Editor’s Message As you look through the pages of this 1976 Red Devil, you will bring back to thought many memories of your days at Pickering. May all of these memories be happy ones and stay with you for the rest of your days. 1 would like now to recognize each of the hard working members of the Annual Staff. Being editor of this yearbook, I had to work with each of the members of its staff. As I worked with them, I watched them put many hours of hard work and much of themselves into the pages of this pictorial history of Pickering High School. I would also like to give my appreciation to those who helped the staff by buying an ad, making a contribution, or by signing the Alumni Page to help make this publication possible. Sincerely, Homer Clark, Editor

Seated L-R: Mrs. Mitchel - Sec., Maj. Gerald Russell - Vice-President, Mr. Murphy O'Banion, William Andrews - President Treasurer PTA The PTA is as the name implies, a parent-teacher associa- tion united in their efforts to promote the welfare of children in the home, school, and community. The organization is committed to bringing the home and the school into a closer relationship; that parents and teach- ers may co-operate in the education of youth. Each year the project committee selects a project for the year and the fund raising activities are directed toward that project. We sponsor two $100.00 College scholarships each year for two deserving students. Past projects have been the purchase of the school activity bus, purchasing the school air condi- tioners and intercom system, basketball warm-ups and trav- eling bags, drums for music, and cement play court. The Pickering PTA is the oldest active unit in the parish and I'm proud to have served as president for the year 1975- 76. Sincerely 1 »• V « I William E. Andrews

In Memoriam Mrs. Eula Brown Bartlett Mrs. Eula - My Johnny's sick, he's got a high fever and 1 can't get it down. Can you help?” Mrs. Eula - My wife burned her hand and 1 need some- thing for it. Can you help?” The flame that burned from this candle has been snuffed out. But the illustrious low from that light shall never dim. For in the heart of our community lies the deep appreciation for the compassion with strength, the dedication to mankind and its suffering, and service to others rather than herself that she is displayed so - Weep not, weep not She is not dead; She's resting in the bosom of Jesus. Heart-broken husband - weep no more; Grief-stricken son - weep no more; Left-lonesome daughter - weep no more; She's only just gone home. 4 James Weldon Johnson
