PJA President - Carney Jean Midkiff, V-Pres. - William Andrews, Secretary - Nina Russell, Treasurer - Murphy O’Banion The PTA is, as the name implies, a parent-teacher association united in their efforts to promote the welfare of children in home, school, and community. The organization is committed to bringing the home and the school into a closer relationship; that parents and teachers may cooperate in the education of youth. Each year the project committee selects a project for the year and the fund rais- ing activities are directed toward that project. We sponsor two $100.00 college scholarships each year for two deserving students. Past projects have been the purchase of the school activity bus, purchasing the school air conditioners and intercom, basketball warm-ups and traveling bags, and drums for music. The Pickering PTA is the oldest active unit in the parish and I'm proud to have served as president for the year 1974-75. 2 Carney Jean Midkiff £ fefccvt $ Uess cjg Working on the annual this past year has really been a challenge. But, the staff and the sponsors have given great help and support. Without these people, the annual would have never come out. I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the annual and as you look through this yearbook and recall mem- ories and moments, the 1975 annual staff and I hope, that for you, these memories were happy ones. Sincerely, Mary Ann Talafuse 3 A wonderful personality ... a warm smile and friendly ways ... a zest for life and her work. Her understanding nature has helped us through the hard times at PHS. She is not only a teacher but a friend. We have been guided by her friendly cooperation, her enthusiasm, and we shall remember it always. In grateful appreciation we dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Carline Pelt. 4 1975 Red Devil Annual Staff SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE I am very pleased to commend you on this outstanding yearbook. You have picto- riaily recorded the many academic activities and social joys that have made this a record year of achievements for your alma mater. I share with you and your entire school staff the great sense of pride for these many accomplishments for your school. The record of excellence depicted in this fine journalistic endeavor should be an indicator of the great things you will achieve in life. You have much to give this great society of ours and 1 encourage you to continue to develop your talents for worthy contributions to mankind. The future of this great nation of ours is depend- ing on you. May your school achievements be stepping stones on a path of success and happi- ness. Sincerely. 6 Curtis Bradshaw, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools NoiNva.o AH ranw fwostfwps Dear Friends: Many times we travel through life at such a fast pace that we forget many of the inter- esting events that happen to us. The hard work that has gone into the preparation of this annual will help you to remember some of the events of your school days. May they be pleasant memories for you all. I'm very proud of the effort and cooperation that has been put forth by our students and community to help our school go and grow. May the good Lord continue to bless our school and community. MIDRIFF'S MESSAGE Let each of us again pause and evaluate the present, the 1974-75 school year, for no one can go forward until he realizes where he is at the present. The 1975 annual staff and their sponsors have finished the course. They have run a good race; they have fought a good fight. Tomorrow brings a new day, new people and new challenges. May each of us be ready to face these challenges because we have prepared ourselves today. May we set our goals high and shoot for a star, remembering that it is better to have tried and failed, than never to have tried at all. L. Reid Midkiff MRS. REAGAN Music MISS FLOYD Coach $r 3 MRS.
