Text from Pages 1 - 104 of the 1970 volume:

THE RED DEVIL Mrs. Romona Tuck I’m sure you all know someone who stands out in your memory as a hard worker. The one who is always doing his own work and most of everyone elses. The one who never complains about hard work, who toils and slaves and actually enjoys it. We all feel I am sure that these people should have some recognition for their unending service. It is for this reason that we, the Annual Staff of Pickering High School dedicate this yearbook to Mrs. Ramona Tuck for her perpetual loyalty, friendliness, and aid to all around her. ADMINISTRATION Superintendent’s Message May the pictorial scenes in this attractive publication help you remember with enjoy- ment your school days, the pleasant associations with classmates and teachers, and inspire you to continue worthwhile activities. My wish is that your future will be so planned and lived that the important experiences of your life will bring you both honor and happiness. I congratulate the staff and sponsors for publishing this informative yearbook which reflects so many school accomplishments. Sincerely yours Curtis Bradshaw, Superintendent Vernon Parish Schools -V MR. MURPHY O'BANION, Board Member Vernon Parish School Board and Staff Principal’s Message Congratulation to you, the yearbook staff and sponsor, for your planning and assembling of this outstanding school yearbook for 1969-1970. Many of the contributions made to today’s better way of life have been made by unselfish people, such as you, who were willing to do “that little bit of extra work”; so that the rest of us can enjoy the world we live in to a fuller extent. Likewise, thank you for giving your time and talents to compile the memories of the 1969-1970 school year in this yearbook. Let us hope that the student body enclosed will leave an imprint, and that someday when looking back, there might be a satisfied feeling of their contributing to a better world, as this yearbook staff has contributed to a better school by their publication. It is a job not easily accomplished because of the rapid changes taking place in our society. Through the students participation in his studies and extra-curricular activities, he is more able to meet the pressing problems of today and better prepare himself for the problems of tomorrow. Failure or success is within the individual. The student or person usually fails because he does not and succeed. May I take this opportunity to wish them continued success in all endeavors they may undertake.
