LETTER FROM EDITOR As the school year passes, we pause to catch a final glimpse of everything we have done. The faculty and the student body have given uncountable contributions to this cause - the publishment of the 1961 Red Devil. We hope that this yearbook shall be a treasured souvenir of our unforgettable days at Pickering High School. The Staff has dedicated many hours of work for the Red Devil. We, the Staff, feel great satisfaction as we present to you the 1961 Red Devil. Miss Sarah Hoyt, Editor We, the staff of the 1961 Red Devil, proudly dedi- cate this annual to Mr. Curtis Bradshaw, Superin- tendent of Schools of Vernon Parish, whose help makes possible the fine education that each boy and girl receives at our school. He has been effective in giving every student greater opportunities for learn- ing so that each student will be better prepared to go forward into the future. We sincerely wish to extend a token of appreciation to our superintendent who has so unselfishly given of his time and effort to the interests and advancements of Pickering School. Financing, organizing and preparing a school annualis a big task, and those volunteering to undertake such a splendid and worth- while activity are certainly to be commended. The job of preparing a school annual does not fall within the re- quirements for a teacher's contract, nor is it a requirement for high school graduation. A good school is always the outgrowth of its teachers and pupils doing more than is expected of them. I feel sure the entire school and community will join me in say- ing - thank you.
