EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR Ervin R. Easton USN Born in Jones, Oklahoma, the son of Reverend and Mrs. VV. S. Easton, LCDR EASTON attended high school in Reed City, Michigan before entering the Michigan College of Mining and Technology in 1950. Honored in WHO'S WHO Among American College and University Students, LCDR EASTON received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Metallurgical Engine- ering in 1954. Commissioned in March 1955 at the U.S. Naval Ofhcer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island, LCDR Easton then received Explosive Ordnance Disposal Training at Indian Head, Maryland. Reporting aboard the USS BON HOMME RICHARD CVA-31 in December 1955, he served as Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Magazines and Armory Officer. After graduation from Submarine School in 1959, LCDR Easton served in the billets of Supply, Communications, Gunnery and Operations Officers and Navigator in the USS BREAM CSS-243D. Transferred in 1961 to USS TANG CSS-5631, he served as Navigator, Operations Officer and Engineer prior to attending the Defense Intelligence School, Washington, D. C., in 1962-63. Upon graduation, LCDR Easton served as Force Intelligence Officer on COMSUBPAC Staff 1963-1965. LCDR Easton reported aboard USS PICKEREL CSS-5245 for duty as Executive Officer in September 1965 and will be detached in January 1966 to report to the Staff of Commander in Chief, U.S. Pacific Fleet for duty as Shipborne Reconnaissance Ofhcer. LCDR Easton is married to the former Jean Marie Laurin of Houghton, Michigan and is the proud father of sons Scott, 11 and Kurt, 8.

coMMANDlNG QFFICERH CDR William D. Shaughnessy USN Commander William D. Shaughnessy, USN, was graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1951, as honor man in his class. He served two years aboard the USS HAYNSVVORTH CDD 700D and after attending Submarine School, served three years aboard the USS HARDHEAD CSS 365D as Weapons CHTCGI, Engineer and Navigator. Following a tour of duty as Submarine Division 102 Engineer, he attended the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Where he was awarded the degree of Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy. Subsequent tours have included Navigator, Operations Ofhcer and Executive Officer of the USS TROUT CSS 566D g Submarine Opera- tions and Intelligence Officer in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Operations and Readiness Officer on the staff of Commander Submarine Squadron FTE TEEN. Commander Shaughnessy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William A. Shaughnessy of Belmont, Massachusetts. He is married to the former Patricia M. Crandall of Annapolis, Maryland, and they reside in Pearl City, Hawaii with their five children, Maureen, Williani, Ann, Susan and Mary.
