1955 PICKENS O-GEORGETOWN 12 Low-state Georgetown visited Pickens and scored two last half touchdowns to win holding the Flames scoreless 'l2-0. This marked the first time in 23 straight games that the locals have not scored in. Corlcen and Anderson did the scoring for the Gators. Holland was the top rushing threat for Pickens. The line held several times but could not contain the two thrusts. PICKENS 0-WALHALLA O The Blue Flames visited Walhalla for Home- coming and the game ended in a scoreless tie. Several marches were stopped short of the goal in the exciting contest. Bivens and Stone ran well on offense. Hayes, Stokes, Hallum, and Childs were the defense stars. PICKEN5 7iWELCOME 20 The Welcome Warriors spoiled the Flames' Homecoming with a 20-7 win. Farmer passed for two touchdowns to Merritt and Gentry while lyda ran the other touchdown. The Flames looked best in the last half by registering a touchdown on a 9 yard pass from Bivens to Holland. Stone scored the p.a.t. Hallum and McCollum were defensive lineman stars. Tunlcie Cole was crowned Queen at halftime. PICKENS 0-SENECA 32 At Seneca the Flames suffered their worst defeat in 6 years 320. Season Hiqhliqhls PICKENS 20-SLATER O The T955 Blue Flames opened the season with a 20-O victory over Slater. Jimmy Holland scored the first touchdown of the season on a 4-yard plunge. Gary Day ran the other two touchdowns on 27 and 4 yard runs. Day and Stone each scored an extra point. Day led the backs in rushing with 94 yards in T3 carries. Hallum, Stokes, and Stone were defensive stars. PICKENS 28-HONEA PATH 13 The Blue Flames won their second straight game of the year over Honea Path 28-13. Jimmy McCollum received two touchdown passes from Tommy Bivens on 65 and 54 yards, Bivens also scored another touchdown on a 'I yard sneak. Jimmy Holland scored the final touchdown on a 37 yard run. Day and Stone had 2 extra points each. Ripley scored the touchdowns for Honea Path. McCollum, Holland, Stokes, and Hayes sparked the defensive unit. PICKENS 21-FAIRFOREST 20 At Fairforest for the first road game the Flames lost a close decision of 2'l-'I0. David Stone scored the opening touchdown on a 9 yard run. Tommy Bivens sneoked a oneeyard plunge for touchdowns twice. Day and Holland had the extra points. Morrow and Medley did all the scoring for Fairforest, Stewart, Hallum, and Hayes sparked the defense. PICKENS 19-LIBERTY 6 ln the rival battle against Liberty the Flames registered their third win. David Stone scored 2 touchdowns on 8 and 15 yard runs. Holland scored the last touchdown on a 21 yard pass from Tommy Bivens. Roy Thrift made the only p.a.t. for Pickens. Trammell scored the Liberty touchdown and Hitt kicked the p.a.t. The whole line played a terrific defensive game with excep- tional work by Rackley and Hallum,

Q 's Seasnn Hiqhliqhts 1955 PICKENS 7-DANIEL 0 The Pickens boys went back into the victory column with a 7-0 win over Daniel. David Stone scored the only touchdown with a 22 yard run. Holland made the p.a.t. Holland rushed for 100 yards in 14 carries for the leading ground gainer. Stone had 90 yards in 14 carries to share rushing honors. Raclxley, Churchwell, Hayes, and Hallum anchored the line on many occasions. PICKENS 25-WARE SHOALS 12 On Dad's night the Flames won the final home game 25-12 over Ware Shoals. Holland scored three touchdowns on runs of 20, 14, and 21 yards. Day recovered a fumble for the other score. Day also made the only p.a.t. Trayngham and Hughes scored for the Hornets. Holland's 112 yards in 16 carries was taps for the night and was a game high for the season. Thrift gained 74 yards during the night. Balmer, Hallum, Hayes, and Churchwell were star linemen for the game. PICKENS 7-LAURENS 13 Laurens won the final 1955 game over the Blue Flame 13-7. Porter and Crenshaw did the scoring for the Tigers. Stone stored the only touchdown on a 7-yard pass play from Holland. Thrift made the only Flame extra point. Stone caught five passes from Hoiland to top the threat. Stewart, Stone, Hallum, and Hayes were defen- sive stars.
