Mrs. Deal is our librarian. We always find her when we want something special in readings and reports. She teaches some junior high classes in social studies and science too. She holds a B.S. with high honors and a masters degree from Pitts- burg State College, and has taught at P.H.S. for thirteen years. This year she is a sponsor for the eighth grade. She and Mr. Deal live at Treece where he has retired this year after thirty-five years as a hardware merchant. They are pictured with their little dog Mike who has a very special place in their he arts. Who is the star of this show? The center of attrac- tion? The attention getter? It is Larry Puryear III, just sixteen months old. Mother KariZoe and Daddy Larry II just look on with admiration and shouldn't everyone? I-Ie's just great! Dad Larry has been teaching here for seven ears. He teaches science in both 'unior and Y J senior high school. The student council looks to him for advice and leadership. His Alma Mater is Northeastern State where he took his degree. The smiles here tell the story of a family who just plain like each other. Both Burl and Nadine Mullins are teachers, but we can't claim Nadine, she teaches at Treece. Pat, at the right of the picture is a sophomore at NEO AGM at Miami. Mr. Mullins claims two degrees, a B.S. from East Central State and M.S. from O.S.U. In his eighth year in our school, he teaches classes in vocational carpentry and sponsors the senior class. The Al Hamils make up this handsome family group. Mr. Hamil is shown with his wife Jenny, and Kenny, seven, who is in the second grade, Linda, three years old, and brand new baby Ronald Joe, who is the center of all activity at the Hamil house right now. Mr. Hamil is our music teacher and has built the music department into one that commands great respect all over the state in the three years he has been at Picher High School. I-Ie received his Bachelor of Music degree at South- eastern State.

...-W . ...,- aa warm , ,,,- m - --M... ws... At home with the Harold McLains means a good time for all. This picture seems to indicate that Emma Lou, an eighth grader, and her dad do not have a chance in this game. Mother is the champion! Mrs. Willo McLain is our Home Economics teacher and a planner of banquets par excellence. She acts as advisor of activities for the 4-H Club. Pittsburg State College at Pitts- burg, Kansas, is her school where she was awarded a B.S. degree. She has taught here for ten years. Great bowls of popcorn! Doesn't this look like fun? Two -year-old Kathy's smile appeared like the sunshine after the picture was taken and Daddy let her get her little hands into that big bowl. Myrna, on the right is in the sixth grade. She is the elementary school ZINCO Queen this year. The Fred Osbornes have been with us for seven years. Mr. Osborne teaches vocational auto-mechanics at P.H.S. He is also a junior sponsor, so that means he should be able to make good hot dogs and coffee. He took a B.S. degree at Northeastern State and a M.S. degree in vo- cational teaching at O.S.U. Howard Hudson and his mother, Mrs. Hazel Davis, make this little family group. Honey, the little dog, poses like a veteran. He could have had some acting lessons. Mr. Hudson received his B.A. degree from Northeastern State and is teaching speech and English in P.H.S. for the fourth year. The planning of all plays and assemblies is his special duty. The Byrl Gowins seem to have fun together. This combination of kids, cats, and phonograph records give the evidence. The children are John, twelve years old and in the sixth grade, Kathy Lynn, eight years old and in the third grade, and Rea Jean, seven years old and in the second grade. Mr. Gowin has taught mathematics for three years at P.H.S. He is a sophomore sponsor. At S.M.S. in Springfield, Missouri, he won a B.S. degree, and from Missouri University he has a M.E. 8
