Th ty e glxt Class H zstory In the fall of 1935 a group of scared but proud students entered the Phoemxulle semor hlgh school Varlous members lmmedlatelx 1o1ned clubs and other act1x1t1e Some of the clubs were as fo lows Commerclal Dramatlc Tr1 H1 Y H1 Y Glee Spelhng Orchestra and Band In the early part of th1s year we elected our class ofiicers They were Dona d De1n1nge1 pres1dent Joseph Weber x1ce pres1dent Ruth B1l1nsk1 secretary and John Cotwals treasurer On Max 1 ln the study hall of the hlgh school we gaxe our first class party The muslc was supp 1ed by Ray Bare and hls orchestra w1th a sport settmg as the scene fo1 a background The party was a QOC13l as wel as a financlal success Toward the end of th1s year the selectxon of a class r1ng was made by the follow mg commlttee Dolothy Shutes Margaret Faust Dor1s Mc Cord Donald De1n1nger Joseph Weber Joseph Yednock and John Gotwals Thus we ended oul lust successful year as sophomores Aftu a most emow ab e xacatlon we returned to school as 1un1ors 1n Qeptembe1 of 1036 The follow mg persons were elected as officers Don ald D9lH1l1UQl pres1dent Joseph Weber X108 pres1dent Margaret Faust secxetau ard John Cotwals treasurer The second class party was held on March 3 w1th Don Campbel and hls orchestra prox 1d1nff the muslc 1n the hlgh school aud1tor1um The last ex ent as 11111101 was enterta1n1ng the QQHIOTS on June 18 at the annual Jl1l110l Semol Plom whlch was held 1n the gy mnaslum of the Memorlal 11111101 hlf h schoo A xery effluent commxttee suppl1ed colorful decoratlons to replesent Holland The musxc was furnlshed by Verne Warren and h1s olchestra Durlng th1s xear elght members of the class were elected to the Natlonal Honol Soclety Those elected were Margaret Faust Betty Rob mson Do1othw Shutes Arnabel e Spackman Donald De1n1nger Donald Kurtz Daxld Rulon and Fdwald Reynolds On Septembel 8 we entered the PhO9Yl1XW1ll6 hlgh school for our last yea1 Soon after th1s w e elected our class oihcers who were Theron Sch lotterer pres1dent Joseph Weber uce pres1dent Annabelle Spackman secretary and John Gotwals treasurer Our last class party wa held on December 3 ln the hlgh school The danclng student bodv qulte thoroughly enjoyed ltself aqalnst the settmg of a wlnter snow scene w1th lhvthm supphed by Don Campbell and h1s orchestra The school paper was turned ove1 to the Juniors for the May lssue as the SQHIOIQ were workmg on the year book On May 12 and 13 the semor class plav Lunatlcs At Large ' was glven 1n the Jumor hlgh school audltorlum Th1s play was a sequel to One Mad Nlght gn en last year The play proved to be a Iinanclal suc cess Twenty elght members composed the double cast On May 21 the semors took thelr annual class trlp up the Hudson Rlver to West Pomt It was a successful trlp and everyone had an en Joyable txme The Baccalaureate sermon was del1vered on June 12 The commence- ment exerclses are to be held on June 17 when we w1ll be graduated w1th 169 members I 1 , , 1 1 1 . 1 1 t .
