......-....-' Redskin Phoenix Indian School Phoenix, Arizona Volume LXXI ACROSS LEFT TO RIGHT: An Apache Crown dancer, an emotional Fay Antone and a lovable dog with Fedelia Miguel. The American Indian has come a long way, especially in recent years. Our standards of ed- ucation have risen, more of us are seeking high- er education and more have become verbal in expressing opinions and views. Our standard of living has changed immense- ly. For example, we have new, modern housing, more job opportunities, and higher incomes. Our art is now a very popular way of expres- sion and is appreciated across the nation. The level of awarness about our people has also in- creased and we are now more conscious of our own feelings, problems and hopes. This is why the yearbook staff chose the Growth of the Native American as the theme of this year's book. Through pictures and copy we tried to show students' growth through aca- demics, sports, clubs, dorm living and even an emotional or inner growth, as seen on campus. is fl 3' -, 5 Ji 1 Q Nw: as-K Kg 5 f-Q eg X Nr z wx: x 'f Xl l is' ,er t .5 . as 'N ,Q ,-'xi . as I ,sq i W vvw' if u 4 'li .Q J v X 'M- .E fa Daily life on campus explains theme: Growth of the Natiu 2 fi-1 if 3' id S i f if 1 MII Y Q. ,,,,,.,...-i--3-ff-2 ,i ii : Table of ontents A 0 Seniors .... 2g Underclassmen . . . The senior class has had an activity packed year. The class has, as a whole, had the greatest times in the activities which had been planned throughout the school year. Some of these included an all school assembly given by the senior class with the aid of the Instructional staff, and a student government day when seniors took the place of administrators and teachers. Also included was a ditch day held in May. This day concluded the year and was it great! Seniors worked hard by attending classes and meetings to inform themselves about what they needed for their last year at Phoenix Indian High School and to pre- pare themselves for the future. Senior class members would like to ex- press their appreciation to the senior sponsors who made possible many of the activities. 8 MK .40 is Senior sponsors FROM LEFT are Mrs. Betty Huerstel, M.r. Charles Viseur, Mrs. Alice jenkins, Miss Claire Kirkland and Mrs. Mattie Green.
