Greetings to the Class of 1970. During your years at the Phoenix Indian School, we have tried to set up a school program so that every student enrolled may experience a broad and balanced educa- tion which will equip him to enter an occupation suited to his abilities and to prepare him to assume the full responsibility of American Citizenship. We wanted to give him an opportunity to exercise his rights to the pursuit of happiness through acquiring and' preserving mental and physical health and to teach and devolp in his everyday life, acceptable moral and spiritual values. The very best wishes of the employees of the school go with you as you begin your next step in life. We hope that each of you will be better prepared to solve problems that you will meet in life because of your many experiences at Phoenix Indian High School. james D. Wallace, Superintendent 2 ' a principal Miles H . Bollinger The graduating class of 1970 is the first of the new decade. Each of you, along with thousands of other graduates from all over America, is facing a rapidly changing society. This society has many new and complex problems which require the talents of all the citizenry in the search for solutions. Every graduate must assume responsibility for the lcind of world in which we live. You must use your present and future education, along with a great deal of compassion for your fellow man, to meet this responsibility. I wish each of you the best of luck and good Wishes in the years to come. Miles H. Bollinger Principal 3 THE NEW OFFICLAL SCHOOL RING Phoenix Indian High School now has an offical school ring. john Roberts Inc. of Oklahoma has designed it especially for our school. The stone of the ring has the symbol of the school, an Indian head, with the name Braves underneath. The name of our school is engraved around the stone with the date 1890, the year the school was founded. On one side is the seal of the state of Arizona and on the other is the state capital. Other symbols of the ring are education and agriculture and a saguaro cactus. This is now the official school ring and will remain the same. 4 ff' . .ff 'Xml' 516 N 'Q ,K,f ., . gA.q.1 .NtA,.,j-tw x V A Z. 3494, jx ' f,n .gf , , Lf , vifaw ff' fi ' f X E is I J QW '4 fl J - ! 4' P ' 03' ,'j.Qff3f 1 ff I I N3-ifxx ,fff1 'Qf '11 ' ' 1 if '53f t fr,Q.Q:l. va , I '.
