junior Sponsors August 1965 was a significant date for the class of 1969. 239 boys and girls, proud but trembling, entered PIHS as Freshmen. This was a first for many of us--first to be in a large city and to live in a boarding school. As sophomores, 242 strong, we returned--and how much we had grown, both in body and confidence. In fact, if the truth were told, we may have been a bit obnoxious as we looked down upon the lowly ninth grade. Now we are juniors--223 of us, taking the third step in our climb toward attaining a high school diploma. We look back upon the underclassmen in a rather patronizing way, but the regal seniors put us in our places. Phoenix Indian High School has become dear to us and it is our wish that we have contributed our share in making it a better school for those Indian students who will follow us. As we look toward the fourth and last step of the climb, may we be worthy of the teaching, traditions and ideals that our PIHS symbolizes. Edward Baeuchler Helen Anderson
