HISTORY CLUB The History Club started a successful year by electing officers under the guidance of advisors, Mr. McStay and Mr. Varney. Officers are: Charlie Marks, president, Jean Grabowski, vice-president, Marsha Kornbluth, secretary, Bill Bowman, treasurer, cmd Pauline Farling, historian. The clulo's main activity was the annual Yorker Conven- tion, this year held in Lake Placid. The History Club took with them their annual project, a model of the Marrion River Carry Railroad, shortest in the world. The supporting project was the showing of children's movies on Saturday mornings. Other activities included a trip to the Adirondack Museum and participation in the Winter Carnival. First Row: P. The French Club, I Alliance Francaise of Phoenix High School, was founded in 1961 to promote an interest in French culture and the French language. The members have attended French plays, had slides and movies, lis- tened to native speakers and records, and put on French assemblies. The two big events of the year are a French Christmas caroling party followed by a French meal at some member's home. In the spring the club has dinner at a French restaurant. The French Club, on Awards Day, offers a cup to the member of the ninth-grade class who has the highest average, and recognizes other high av- erages in the junior high school. At commencement five dollars is presented to the student who has received the highest mark on the Regents, provided it is a 90 or above. Vive La France! FRENCH CLUB First Row: J.
