The Dozen Plus Twelve started on a very informal basis about three years ago. At that time, the group was known as TwentyeTwo for T . We met one afternoon a week after school with no particular aim in mind except that the members tas they are todayl were chosen because they loved to sing, were extremely reliable and talented. We also experimented with music of the popular variety that was not always practical for the larger concert choir. Our first public appearance was for the annual County Association meeting in Oswego in the spring. Since then we have sung extensively for many varied organizations - clubs, hospitals, charitable events, etc. The group has appeared on television many times, and the demand for our services is sometimes more than we can handle. As in the beginning, the group is composed of the best and hardest working singers from the con- cert choir who are willing to sacrifice many hours of their time to perfect their work. Membership is open only through audition and to those who have shown, not only singing ability, but the qualities of dependability and integrity. We now have an apprentice group which puts in a whole year of practice with the regular members with no promise of getting a chance to sing unless a regular member is ill or drops out. Through this willingness to serve an apprenticeship, they are guaranteed membership the fol- lowing year. At the same time their hard work will insure that the high-level of performance will be continued year after year. 98
