I I PHOEBUS ' BIGGEST HOUR It was Phoebus High School’s biggest night; guests had come from far and near. The occasion? The formal dedication of Phoebus High School. The audience was laced with descendents of Harrison Phoebus; founder of Phoebus Va, School board workers, city councilmen, and many citizens of Phoebus and Hampton. Platform guests included Mr. John P. Mug- ler, who was presented a ’76 Spectre, which had highlighted Phoebus’ History, Dr. Robert Anderson, Superintendent of Schools for Hampton and Dr. William E. Lavery, President of VPI, who was the keynote guest speaker. The highlight of the evening was the formal acceptance of the structure by our principal, Mr. Don Musselman, who delivered joke after joke in his speech. Everyone who was there will always recall Phoebus’ dedication on October 5, 1976. Newly appointed Superintendent of Hampton Schools Board, Dr. Robert An- derson makes his first formal appearance before the citizens of Hampton and Phoebus. V Haloed by the darkness. School Board Chairman, Mr. Tommy Thomp- son delivers welcoming remarks and introductions to the over flowing crowd. 14
