The re- porters, each .with' a separate news beat to cover, bring in news ot clubs, classes, and ac- tivities, besides contributing humor and teature stories. It is also the job ot the reporters to keep the downtown papers up to date with news ot the school. Workers in the Print Shop contribute to the paper by correcting mistakes, making up the page torms, setting ads, printing the paper, and aiding in the distribution ot it. The tinancial status ot a publication depends entirely upon the sales and advertising, and these statls were indispensable to the success ot the paper this year. Andy Martinez did some timely hitting this year, and fielded like a professional at first base. Jack McLellan is one of the best catchers Ban- ning has ever had. Art Ascolesi, flashy shortstop, caught most everything that came his way. Bill Terkla is a great chuclcer and should go far in pro ball. Bob Barman, a newcomer, held down the left field position. Donald Young has covered center field for two years, and returns for one more year of fly-chasing. Jack Belyea plugged along, and after four years of playing came into his own and won a letter. Tom Lish, fiery manager, and one of the best, kept the baseball gear in good order, and will be remembered for his circus catches. -IO3-- -lt VARSITY SQUAD VARSITY BASEBALL OPENING the 1936 Southern-Pacific League against Jetterson, the Banning Pilots returned with an 8-6 victory.
