She is a MOST OUTSTANDING STAFFER tan award presented to her by the Hourlon Clnronirlej, and a member of the Houston Independent School District Committee on Dress Code. She was one of two students appointed by MRS. JAMES TINSLEY. This was the first time the board had ever named students to a board com- IHIIICC, She also won a 2nd place in news writing in the Inter- scholastic League District Competition. Under her editorship, the HERALD won a third place in the San Jacinto TB Association high school contest and national recognition. For the entry's placement, The Port granted a 350 scholarship for a journalism student to study in a summer institute.
