Seven times they won over highly touted squads to bring glory to their school and praise to coaches Klein, Rinehard, Moyer and Miller. The team enjoyed a better than average season. Only three regulars were held over from last year, which shows the lack of experienced players. However, we lost only to Allentown after putting up a good Fight against an ex- perienced Ienm, and to Bethlehem, a traditionally strong teamg hut on Thanksgiving Day victory was sweet over our old rival, Easton. This year's team was a Fighting, plucky eleven and it's hats off to the gallant Garnet and their coaches. ,Est . s FOOTBALL-1946 C08ChCS-MILLER, KLEIN, RHINEHART, Movnn. OPPONENT P. As freshmen we were extras: and, as extras did the menial details. However, an 8-0 win over a strong Allentown football team remains fixed in our minds as well as the Freshman Frolic held in the spring. September found us returning as a sophomore chorus. A few of us began to play big parts in athletics, dramatics, and other extra-curricular activities. But the great majority of us were but members of the chorus which aids and abets high school activities. V. E. Day interrupted play production for a day. ln the fall 229 of us returned as Iunior understudies, glad that the war was over and fairly sure that all of us could now finish as members of the cast. The spring found us participating in that great event- 1.a Fiesta. Then came the autumn. We had now reached the pinnacle. We returned as the stars of the show. In athletics, dramatics, and school publications we we re the leaders, the SUITS. The year was highlighted by many events. Grub Day found us gorging ourselves and then dancing that overstuHed feeling away. Crazy Day was a riot of fun. Interposed between these two we scholastic stars received our ratings. Then came exams. How gladly we surrendered our books! On Sunday, Iune 22, 1947, our Baccalaureate sermon was delivered by Rev. Arthur DeWire. We are sure the lesson he gave will help us. Class Day proved a fine affair. We all assembled in the stadium and there our most carefully guarded secrets were unveiled be- fore the public. However, we enjoyed it greatly. Our Commencement exercises caused us all to feel sor- rowful. lt was the last time for the class of 147 to be assembled together in dear old Phillipsburg High. Our banquet was held at Pocono Manor. Everyone was delighted with the joyful affair. And now, just as all top performers in a theater must make way for new talent, we leave the theater of Phillipsburg High School confident that productions in the future will equal or exceed those of the past. T Virginia Bellis SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President . . . Raymond Mantoni Vice President . ...., .. Alvin Reese Secretary .. .. , Sherwood Brong Treasurer . Ioyce Wood Ass't Treasurer. Michael Frinzi Adviser'-Mn. HARRY P. RICHARDS ftgnlea The time has come for us to leave The Play House we hold dear, But none of us will e'er forget Performances we held here. Before we ring the curtain down Let's look back in the past, To recall our opening night And careers that went too fast. We first went on the stage In the fall of forty-three. Pale and shakingg small and quietg' Frightened extras then were we, We gave top billing to Ray Mantone, Star performer of our cast, And kept him in the spotlight From the first act 'til the last. The theatre had an open look, The scenery strange and new. We took our places, the show went ong Not one forgot his cue. At our Frolic we had fun, A happy troupe were we, Still we envied the stars Which one day we would be. Our second year we were advanced, They put us in the chorus, We managed to do our loafing, They managed work for us. The second act was quite a hit Though we had competitiong We liked all the excitement But still more-intermission. Soon we were understudies, The time so long-awaited: So we held a gay fiesta And danced and celebrated. The days and months flew by And stars we soon became. We all had title roles And climbed the steps to fame. At last Command Performance came And then it all was through, We sang our last Finale Beneath a sky of blue. S0 now our steps are shorter, We're finished with the past, We've relived all our memlries, VVe knew they couldn't last. There are thoughts about our critics, Which no cast is without, They helped more than we knew And enjoyed it all, no doubt. So as the final curtain falls, Well turn our eyes once more For one last look at P'Burg High, Then gently close the door.
