Dean, College of Educationg Professor of Education. ARTS AND SCIENCE The College of Arts and Science has contrib- uted to the growth and scholarship fame of Phillips in no small degree. Many students who have graduated fr: mirl the Liberal Arts College and gone elsewhere for graduate work inevitably receive praise in the apparent thoroughness of their under- graduate work. Graduate schools regularly grant scholarships and fellowships to students of this college. EDUCATION The quality of work done in the College of Education is testified by the demands of school boards, and superintendents for more Phillips teachers in their schools. Not only are the students going out to teach superiorly trained in the purely curricula but what is becoming vastly more import- ant in morals and character. Phillips students are generally placed early and given a preference pro- vided other qualiications are equal. . ,. t KT :f'i2'Z' fa ' ., 'Nr 9 '- . 1 --tif-v.. . 91.1 - 4 ' -5-rc--I'f'3' '-I -' :lil - - '-ff' fir 5. yjilis.,-,, 52311 -:A 'fijii .',- ' . .- ': Q-Q5 .1:T7's'Z':':'-, ',v .?,,, 2:32. . Its en- rollment, which exceeds that of any church college in the Southwest, is significant of its efficiency. Students from this college minister to an increasing- ly lalrge number of churches within a radius of one hundred seventy-five miles. Missionaries for for- eign work are trained here and already many are in the field actively spreading the Gospel to a wait- ing world. Especial recognition has been given this college in the religous world at various times. DEAN OF WOIVIEN Co-ed life in college is inseparately bound with dormitories and without such advantages many of the happy moments of College would never be dis- covered. It is indeed there where many helpful lessons of life are learned. Discipline is such as must be exercsed throughout life rather than for the individual situation. That dornlitory life is happy is evidenced by the fact that all available rooms in Athenian Hall were taken a week before the fall semester opened. I l F. H. MARSHALL, A. M., Ph. D.
