THE NINETEEN FIFTY-EIGHT PHILPHOTO THE NINTH GRADE CLASS BOOK OF WENDELL PHILLIPS JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Minneapolis, Minnesota Cover Design by GARY LUND Wendell Phillips Junior High School GREETINGS It has been a pleasure to work with the ninth grade class of Phillips, 1957-58. You are now on the proverbial home stretch. Some of you may have only three more years of school; others may have more. Whatever is your plan, I wish all of you well. However, we attain our goals in life not by wishing, but by doing. C. E. Bakke, Principal You leave Phillips Junior High School with a dual responsibility—one to the community and nation of which you are a part, and the other to your own ability or competency. Succeeding in either one without the other is short of the obligation you have to yourself and society. Leaving Junior High School does not mean you are prepared to perform well as a citizen and member of society, that takes many years. Now you are just commencing to fulfill your life's ambition and obligations. D. Shawbold, Assistant Principal HALL MARSHALS STAGE FORCE LUNCHROOM MARSHALS PHILLIPIAN STAFF HONOR SOCIETY MEMBERS The Phillips Honor Society is composed of eighth and ninth grade pupils who have demonstrated outstanding ability while at Phillips Junior High School. These pupils must attain a B-f- (2.5) average for all marks in order to become members, then must maintain at least a B (2.0) average thereafter. All members must be regarded as leaders possessing excellent character, and willing to give service to the school. 9-10 Akmentins.
