Excellence is the product of that ideal, and the sponsor and mem- bers of the annual staff are to be commended for their work in portraying school life in Phillips High School. It is my thinking that the 1953-195m school year has been a year of achievement and accomplishments. The fact that thesense of student responsibility has been appreciable advanced has been reflected throughout the school year in academic and extra-curricular work. A sense of responsibility, a fine spirit of cooperation, and high ideals expressed by you students have pro- duced a year of school experiences that will better enable you to meet problems that you are to encounter in the future. It has been the constant aim of the Board of Edu- cation, administration, and staff to provide educational opportunities for you that are adaptable to the demands of modern life.
