THE LANGUAGES DEPARTMENT WHICH GAVE US A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF OTHER NATIONS The language department offered tliree foreign languages for the students with the desire to speak in another tongue. Miss Virginia Praytor, who also taught English, taugiit all the Latin classes. Students who took French or Spanish were instructed by Mrs. Leslie Ainsworth. Among the elective subjects that a Phillipian could take were those which came under the fine arts department. For tliose interested in music, band, taught by Mr. Harry Holtam; orchestra, taught by Mr. Far is L. Conboy; and vocal, taught by Mrs. Elizabeth Tower, were offered. Art students found Miss Garnet Leader a much traveled and capable teacher. Miss Margaret Spain helped students develop their public speaking ability and their dramatic skills. MR. WILLIAM A.
