Midden Splendor Small and deserted Almost covered by sand But for one speck of rainbow pearl Left to sparkle in the sun. I stooped to pick it up, Brushed it clean of sand. Only a sea shell, I thought, As I placed it to my ear. Only a sea shell small and lonely . . . Yet . . . It echoed the roar of the deep dark ocean, It reflected the rays of the lofty, brilliant sun.
