Winter Scenes Frosty windowpancs. Smoke curling lazily toward a diamond-studded sky Hills and valleys arrayed in ermine cloaks; Houses nestled snugly in cozy valleys. Defying winter’s brittle rebukes. Eager faces peer through misty windows. Gleefully watching the quiet snow blanket the valley. Trees glitter with a thousand jeweled icicles. Like giant-swinging, crystal chandeliers, They reflect the sparkle of the star-sprinkled heavens. A bitter wind sweeps through the valley Driving the little dancing snowflakes Like fleecy lambs, along the slopes of the mountains. A coyote lays bare his mournful soul To a cold, unfeeling moon; Then stabs through the barren woods in search of food. You, O Winter, in your crisp, white formal; You. with your cold, bleak beauty.
