...aim 745 We Slam Cflcae The last performance is over, the circus must pack and be on its way, but a great deal must be left to the next troupe. These were the words of boss Sammy Kendrick as he strode away and left me to inform the members of the troupe that they must all leave something. To set an example, Sammy Kendrick left his shy twinkle to any girl that can appreciate it. Starting my mission, I walked over to the Side Show tents where Tall Mann, Pat Shelby, stubbornly refused to leave Libby jordon to anyone. Hoping for more success, I strolled over to where Strong man George Sims was gingerly placing a 1000 lb. weight in his trunk, left handed. 'Putting down the bundle of 200 lb. weights he had been holding in his right hand, he decided to bequeath his curly hair to Robbie jo Robins, who hates to roll hers up. I was leaving when Clown Charlie Blalock came in, tripping over a coil of rope. He informed me that he would just leave, period! Continuing I met Bobby Westbrook, the Sword-swallower, looking under some rope for a stray sword. He decided to confer his ingenious ability to pour sulphuric acid into salt upon jack Real. Hearing our conversation, Roland Dean willed the P. H. S. Big Top to Billy Mullins. Leaving the Side Shows and crossing the lot, I saw Elaine Smith, and Ralph Connell removing the posters they had painted. They decided to leave their pens and brushes to Mary jane Tapscott and Douglas Marshman. The Big Top was next, and just inside I came upon our two famous eques- triennes, Elizabeth Sims and Margie Price who willed their big brown eyes to anyone who can use them to an advantage. After talking to the trapeze artists I found that: Patsy Sartain had left her telephoning ability to anyone with a certain stars phone number. The acrobat section was next, and as I picked my way through spring boards and dodged flying people, I discovered that Ioyce Pridmore and Virginia Finley had willed the good times in Hueytown and Shades Cahaba to Lois Ann Orr and Ramona Bentley. Margaret Herndon trans- ferred her ability to giggle anywhere at anytime to Richard Marshman, who needed it. Edna Morgan came over from the food wagon long enough to be- queath her ability to tangle things to Kay Klassen. Betty Tombrello gave her

745 We Shaw Glow ability to say the wrong thing at the wrong time to Linda Bonrvolous. joy Belle lieid bestowed her straight hair on Annis Tollett. Bidding the acrobats farewell and walking over to the lion cages and talking to the trainers, I received the following information: Thomas Reeves left Post Office duty to anyone crazy enough to take it in for the winter. Ed Whaley conferred on Swift Williams his ability to tease Instructor Craig about her Cadillac. After this hair-raising experience, I went to the technicians' tent where Sylvia Durbin and jane Ginn bequeathed their abilities to Al Dabney. In the band and music tent, Norma McCurdy left her baton to Ann Madonia. Vivian Dattoli. willed her saxophone to Connie Campbell. Mary Ann Dudley wills her favorite instructor, Mr. Bailey, to all new troupe members. Continuing to the gypsy dancers tent, Gail Ellison wills to Kathleen Jones her ability to laugh at the most inopportune time. Back to the Big Top--jane Adams and Pat Hurlbert willed their abilities to understand and appreciate the ringmaster, Hamlet, who directs us all, to Kathryn Hairston and Richard Russell. Sue Montgomery left her pet bear, Lover Boy to no one. Because the boss said You can't take it with you, Rosalie Ippolite is going to prove him wrong by refusing to bestow her affection for the P. H. S. instructors on anyone. Louis Culver bequeathed his flagpole sitting job to anyone! Barker Ted Nordman left his circus whip to Miss Benson. For the last word Henrietta Whittle, Barbara Wyatt, and I leave all the Heroes to all the girls who'll have the fun that we did. jean Osborne
