,4 Bouquet af Roses Through the overcast of heavy fog many little children came into view as the bus fleet unloaded its cargo one November morning at one small rural school. Completely unmindful of my observation from the car window they scampered up the walkl' Running, jumping, playing, yell- ing, laughing, and pulling, they came! The group made a mad rush for the school buildings! The scene reminded one of the dawn of intelligence. From the car window this unusual society of human beings made an interesting study in behavior. The new and strange world around the children produced for each a different problem. Some of them found it a highly interest- ing and exciting place filled with the countless mysteries, others insecure and afraid, could not make up their minds as to the friendliness of so many things and events! Through the doors they ran, and into the school to their teachers, carrying with them their first impressions of the strange world demand- ing decision from their young minds. To the educational staff of administrators, teachers, health workers, guidance officers, supervisors, maintenance workers, supply officers, parents, business men, government agencies, and friends who daily labor to assure such youngsters that this is a friendly world. . . that there are certain rules that govern its operation. . . that these can be mastered by patience and study. . . that there is a useful place for each person in this wonderful world of living things. . . that hope and beauty, a part of every living human, crying out for fulfillment, will not be denied. . . To all who labor in the task of aiding these young minds dawning into intelligence, The staff of The Bull Dog gives a Bouquet of Roses. . . a token of appreciation from ourselves, and indeed, from all civiliza- tion foreverl .
