MEMOIRS OF THE CLASS OF 'l95'l Flrst of all let s get one thlng out of the way We are the Class of l95l Turn back a page and you can see us We are a rather motley looking crew but then who wouldn t look motley after what we ve been through? You can tell the four year boys pretty easlly They are the smug looklng ones mugglng at the camera and looking generally pretty sllly They looked pretty sally four years ago too but they were not so smug then We all gathered from the far corners of tember l947 lt must have been early September as a matter of fact because It was too hot even to thunk of school We were smaller we were bewuldered we trudged over from the station and all that rot All In all It was not too auspicious a start for a class destuned for greatness such as ours lDont laugh After all we dld beat Andover J Harold Stassen started off the Fall Term by speaking In a specual cha pel but l am afrand that most of us were too eager to wrlte home and tell our parents that we had seen hum to pay much attention to what he sand As a matter of fact he dldn t say much anyhow Nobody dld much of anythlng In the way of athletucs that year although there were some very good light club teams HVC VENITE PVERI VT VlRl SITIS nm Ili I 2 VOTEU X 'L 4 Q rx TQilSCQlNTEl.l.l N Once they even beat Emerson rn football The varslty beat Andover that year l2 6 chrefly because Bob Blank decuded that Ex eter was as good a place as any to spend the Fall We took careful notice of thus vlctory and decided that nt was a good Idea although none of the other classes here wuth us ever dud catch on There were some pretty dandy fires that year and a rumor of an impending water shortage led to an unexplained mcrease In the rate of consumptlon of water that IS Nothing much came of thus and the Fall Term slobbered merruly along Over the Wnnter vacation Look wrote an artlcle on Exeter Hah' As a matter of fact a couple members of our class gamed some notoriety by havmg thenr plc tures publushed ID this radlcal perloducal In case anybody happens to remember t snowed now and then that Wunter lt was also cold Perhaps It would be better to forget that term Anyhow the Sprung Term was really spicy and a lot more In terestnng Ask any parking meter The really great event of that term was the not or whatever It was of Sunday Aprul 20 To tell the truth nobody rn the Class of 5l had much to do wlth rt because we were forced to remam In our dorms but rn ten years or so we can all clarm that It - l l ' v I R ' - . - lf F F ' it .
