EPT EMBICR ninth, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, was a dark, gloomy day, and the local forecasters in the town of Exeter predicted a disastrous storm. This storm was of an unprece- dented nature, worse than a cloud-burst,-for damage from such a source lasts for a comparatively short timeg but this gathering from all parts of the country was doomed to the fated little County of Rockingham. It raged all that memorable day, and when it cleared, specks of personified freshness were noticed moving about our' dignified little town, chattering like monkeys let out of a box, and generally disturbing the peace. Horrible to relate, we found that they had come to stay, and this fact was engraved on our minds never to be erased. This was the new Prep. class, and as such was bound to make itself known. They were to do wonders, the little fellowsg but when anything was to be done, the absence of these miniature giants was conspicuous. Thus their first year in Phillips Exeter passed, and their remarkable feats ended in talk, but we have forgotten to mention that in the Indoor Meeting of '90 they took two first prizes and two second. In their junior year they put a class football team into the field destined 'to win for them the class championship, greatly to their own C205
