His memory will be longest cherished by those who were in the Academy during his terms as acting Principal after the resignation of Dr. Perkins, and also of Dr. Scott. Although these periods were marked by the severity of the discipline, yet among the students there was always the most profound respect for him, and a feeling of confi- dence that justice was being enacted. ' It was with a feeling of deepest regret that we learned of the resignation of so popular a professor. After a third of a century's close connection with Phillips Exeter Academy it seemed almost im- possible to spare Mr. Wentworth for the absence of a year, which he has been spending abroad: with how much deeper a feeling of sorrow are we brought to realize that his familiar face will no longer be seen in the class-room. Ninety-two may well count herself 'fortunate that his period of service in the Academy did not end before hers. U05

The ClaSS of '92. COLORS: Blark and Wl11'fi'. CHEER: Hulla-baloo, Hulla-baloo, Exeiur, Exrlfr, '92. is HE duty of singing the PEAN now devolves upon us, and it is with great joy that we enter upon the task of writing our class his- tory. We are allowed a reply to the courteous mention of us in Volume VIII., andalso the privilege of vaunting ourselves in the apparel of Seniors. As has been said, ft It is something, after all, to be a Senior, but our satisfaction is not in being able to show our plumage--it is in our right to speak proudly of the admirable record of our class, which has been maintained throughout four years, as the result of the earnest efforts of our fellows. A highly commendable record of scholarship has always character- ized the class, and in athletics and social matters the valuable assist- ance and the influence of '92 have been acknowledged. But how unfortunate are we in not being allowed more victories over Andover! Our misfortune is too humiliating to mention. We must, however, still undergo humiliation, so we are like Washington, calm in defeat, and never elated in victory. In the football and baseball teams our class has been wellvrepresented, and in other athletics she has not been excelled by any of her associated classes.
