X trfbluy Qfxe TWV Q l Eid Mwmfhpvvw .qnffzoduchiofc With the publication of this book a milestone in education in this area has been reached. The pages of the T959 Mountaineer contain the record of the first union ot two high schools, Philipsburg and Osceola. This year the classes came under one roof, in their magnificent new school building. This transition was not without its hardships, however. Reluctance was ex- pressed by many at changing existing conditions, but the welfare of the high school student remained paramount, and the iointure was formed. Many years were spent in planning before our new high school was built. That these years were well spent is attested by the tact that our building is one of the nicest in the state. As you turn the pages of this book, we hope you will share with us the hap- piness and the memories of school life as it was in the year l959. Time may bring many changes but it can never change the hope and aspirations heaped on the people who appear on these pages the first class to graduate from the new Philipsburg Osceola Area High School Co Editors Loretta Blake Annetta Patterson Photography Editor Toni DeBross Ar Dan Marin Business Managers Frances Bell Jonalie Ritchie Chief Typists Virginia Hosband Janie Shimmel Advisors Mr Mills Mr McCamley Photographer Carl 81 Don Studio Phllipsburg Pennsylvania Engraver Zimmerman Engraving Company Sykesville Pennsylvania Printer Kurtz Bros Clearfield Pennsylvania I I , - l I t . 1 I . , .
