Private Duty Section Despite the growth of hospital care, an increased demand has been noticed for private duty nurses. Private practice represents nursing in its broadest conception up to about 1918. Broadly speaking, it is the giving of nursing care to one or more patients who pay the nurse directly. In this field the nurse gives nursing care in the home, in the hospital and sometimes she is called upon to travel with a patient. Nursing in private practice involves the performance of any act that will help the patient physically, mentally or spiritually.
