jre5Aman CALM clbfyfory First, let us introduce ourselves. We are the Class of 1957. On June 7, 1954 we entered the Nurses Home of the Philipsburg State Hospital. Twenty-two girls fresh out of high school searching for that one ambition of our lives-to become a nurse. Our first impression of PSH? We were scared, and yet our desire to be suc- cessful nurses made us forget everything else except we were going to like our new life. The first day of stay here, we arose that morning with the sun, eagerly awaiting the events of the coming day. After eating a hearty breakfast we hurried to our first class. We soon became more acquainted with Mrs. Bishop and Miss Smith, who reassured us and told us how to readjust our lives to living and working together in our future years of nursing. Our Probie months fiew by, filled with fun and long hours of hard work and studying. During this time we were initiated by the Juniors. We had a lot of fun that night, eats and everything. As time went on, we finally reached the night that we received the reward for those long hours of hard work- Our Cap- ping Exercises -which took place on November 19, 1954, the first milestone in the nursing profession. How proud we were and how proud our parents and friends must have been the moment the symbol of our proffession, our caps, were placed on our heads. The rest of our first year as students rushed by, full of long hours of work on the wards and classes, but we had our social activities too, the Halloween and Christmas parties brought much entertainment and fun. Our first year in training has passed by, filled with many cherished memories which we shall never forget.
