Ah yes, Waikiki Be On the 7th of January, we arrived at Pearl Harbor where the final preparations for the journey to the forward area were made. Am- munition for our guns as well as bombs and rockets for our planes were hoisted aboard and stowed in the magazines. F-2 Division found themselves keeping late hours getting the weapons of war safely stowed. However, despite these tasks every member of the crew ' Ford Island 1 i ach Downtown Honolulu was afforded an opportunity to visit the many places of interest onthe Nlsland Paradisef' realizing that Honolulu, Waikiki Beach and the rest were to be their last contacts with lib- erty American style. Marines of the 6th Divi- sion kept vigilant watch over the gangways, part of their regular Marine activities on the ship.
