BRIDGES aamagea but seldom destroyed Day after day Navy HSkyraiders and '6Cor- sairsw hit and dropped spans of bridges on vital supply routes. Night after night uredl' repair crews threw up patchwork temporary spans and improvised Wood by-passes. ln all, planes launched by the 'GSHOWBOAT' damaged 273 bridges - destroying only 53 of these. A high percentage of these were blasted repeatedly only to be repaired almost overnight. Yet, the constant interdiction against bridges helped measurably in keeping enemy build-ups of troops and supplies at a minimum.
