Two mojor donotions of textiles to the Design Center, one from Mr. Gilbert G. Clorls of Orinolso ond the other from Mrs. Dorothy Gordner, offered us the opportu- nity to present this importont show. Within the six week period, from Feb. 25 to April 17, hundreds of people were ottrocted to the gollery to view the designs of o most unique period of our post. Discovering the styles ond foorics thot influenced mony of todoy's foshions ond designs wos on exciting experience. The gollery wos often bustling with students, mony of whom were worlsing on on ossignf ment to give on orol report on o fobric or foshion of their choice, os well os those just interested in oosorbing the foscinotion of the Hlkooring 2O's . The richly oeoded dresses of sills, chiffon, ond sotin olong with the ort deco designs in the first gollery reflected the flomboyont life style thot wos to lost until the economic collopse of the eorly 3O's. The growth of modernism in thot decode mirrored ci foscinotion with technology ond the dominoce of Hollywood. During the entire period, however, troditionol design mointoined its' strong position in the morl-zetploce. The stoff of the Poley Design Center wishes oll of our groduotes success in their future endeovors.
