The Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science Sailing Associa- tion was founded in 1965 for the dual purpose of providing recrea- tional sailing and instruction for any student or faculty member, and of representing Textile on the intercollegiate sailing level. Recrea- tional sailing is provided for members of the Schuylkill River where the clubs' four Alpha's are moored. As an intercollegiate team, the club is a member of the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Asso- ciation and the Middle Atlantic Association of Women Sailors. Both of these organizations sponsor regattas during the fall and spring sailing seasons and Textile attends at least fifteen during that time. The club's advisor is Mr. John Winkler, Assistant Director of Admis- sions. It was through his invaluable assistance that the Sailing Asso- ciation was able to purchase two new boats this winter. .
