lm-..--nn-ina .rib- ,,, E .A 'J-4 ' ' ' The Sir William Perkin Society is a student-affiliate chapter of the American Chemical Society and the American Association of Textile Chemists and Col- orists. The Society serves to supplement the education of the Textile Chemis- try and Chemistry majors through a lecture series, programs, and field trips. Representatives from the textile and chemistry industries come to answer the students' questions on such topics as photochemistry, biochemistry, polymer chemistry, dyeing, finishing, and end-use research. Small seminars on photo- chemistry, directed by Dr. Trachtman, were held weekly forthe interested stu- dents. At other meetings, students and faculty members discuss their job ex- periences and their research activities. Field trips supplement the Perkin So- ciety's lecture series program. They help bring a little reality to the students' course work and enhance their knowledge of the various industries. Summer job opportunities and graduate school information are also part of the Perkin Society's services to its members. Outside the lecture hall social events, high- lighted by our annual banquet, another example of the achievements of the Perkin Society is our work in bringing to the campus Alpha Chi Sigma, a na- tional chemical fraternity.
