Dedication The staff of the 1963 ANALYSIS is proud to dedicate 'this year- book to A. Ward France, our recently retired Dean of Faculty. Mr. France, head of Yarn Manufacturing at PCT8zS since 1935, was graduated in 1920 from Pennsylvania State College with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. In 1922 he completed the Wool 8: Worsted Course at the Philadelphia Textile Institute. Mr. France's experience in industry has been extensive. He has held positions as a textile machinery salesman, overseer of a mill depart- ment, and superintendent of several mills. He has written numerous magazine articles and has often addressed groups and organizations on the subject of textiles. Also, he served on a team sponsored by the government to investigate German textile education. Mr. France has contributed unselfishly of his time and knowledge during the many years that he has been associated with textiles. He has been, and will most certainly continue to be, a great asset to the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science. V l

Dr. Bertrand W. Hayward has been President of our College since 1947. During that time, he has been awarded several honorary doctorate degrees. Prior to this, he received -his B.A, at Colby College, and went on to acquire his M.A. from Columbia University in 1941. He is associated with many prominent textile organizations, and his writings have appeared in numerous magazines and journals. Both the textile industry and the educational world recognize Dr. Hayward as a man of outstanding knowledge and ability. Learning after graduation is acquired completely from your own initiative. College is only an intro- duction to learning. If you have acquired knowl- edge, skills, improved habits and attitudes, improved self-discipline, and if you enjoy organizing attacks upon problems and finding solutions, your battle is well begun. It is a battle you can never really win, but you must always act as though you can. To continue to learn is to continue to live. 23.a'z.'2afLfA:4! 6
