I Our new Dean of College is Donald B. Partridge, who was formerly our Dean of Stu- dents. Dean Partridge received his education from Bates College and Harvard University. He has been at PCT8cS since 1948. Before that, he was a teacher and director of several New England high schools. Dean Partridge is an active member of outside organizations such as the Masons and the Kiwanis. He is well known for his association with several pro- fessional guidance organizations. An assistant Secretary of State recently pre- dicted 'a great future for complexityf Most of 'di f' ' - ive. .1 today's problems are complex whether in the field of science, textile manufacture, social science, or international affairs. To such prob- lems there are no simple answers, if indeed there are any answers at all. You as educated young men and women should reject pat and simplified answers to complex problems and realize that you are most often nearer the truth in realizing the complexity of a problem and furthest from the truth in over simplifying a problem to arrive at an easy answer. Best of luck to you in a complex world. rafmafarax

Dr. Bertrand W. Hayward has been President of our College since 1947. During that time, he has been awarded several honorary doctorate degrees. Prior to this, he received -his B.A, at Colby College, and went on to acquire his M.A. from Columbia University in 1941. He is associated with many prominent textile organizations, and his writings have appeared in numerous magazines and journals. Both the textile industry and the educational world recognize Dr. Hayward as a man of outstanding knowledge and ability. Learning after graduation is acquired completely from your own initiative. College is only an intro- duction to learning. If you have acquired knowl- edge, skills, improved habits and attitudes, improved self-discipline, and if you enjoy organizing attacks upon problems and finding solutions, your battle is well begun. It is a battle you can never really win, but you must always act as though you can. To continue to learn is to continue to live. 23.a'z.'2afLfA:4! 6
