With pride and gratitude the class of 1969 dedicates this edition of the Synapsis to Dr. Paul H. Thomas. As the newly appointed Dean of the Philadelphia College of Osteo- pathic Medicine, Dr. Thomas is the embod- iment of the young, vital, and progressive Osteopathic Physician. Through his initia- tive and under his guidance, a major over- haul of the clinical and academic programs has begun. Although .his tenure as Dean has been brief, still we are able to see the re- sults of his foresight, examples of which in- clude the preparation of a Student Hand- book, the updating of the third year clinical program, and the acquisition of new and progressive clinical instructors. The class of 1969 will remember Dr. Thomas most of all, not for his administra- tive achievements, but for the lively labora- tory sessions which he conducted in Phy- siology and Pharmacology, in those infor- mal assemblies he imparted to us the basis upon which we could further build and improvise. It was here that he established the rapport with the student which has now been carried over to the Office of Dean. Dr. Thomas has succeeded eminently as a teacher, friend, and confidant. He shall succeed in his new administrative position, expanding the horizons of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. We gratefully salute his past accomplishments and his future designs.
