For this reason we, the Senior Class, have published this, the 1955 Milestone, that we might recall God's blessings during the days spent at PhilaBI. Many of our greatest blessings came to us as we presented the Gospel to the people of Philadelphia. There are various phases of our lives as Christians that we find associated with the name of this city. Thus the theme of this yearbook is centered around brotherly love. The Lord Jesus Christ manifested love for us in His willingness to die on the cross in our behalf. This love was imparted to us when we accepted Him as Saviour. To know more of this love shown at Calvary, we came to PhilaBI to study God's Word. To show forth this love in respect to the administration and faculty, God commands us, Obey them who have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief. i Among the students this love can also be radiated, for Christ said, A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. The love of Christ constraineth us, too, to proclaim the Gospel to others that they may come to know Christ as Saviour. This ministry has taken us to all parts of the city of brotherly love. Not only in Christian Service assignments and in our fellowship with each other in classes, but because we were lilqemincled, having the same l0ve, being Of one accord a greater joy has been felt as we gathered for our social activities. Long will we remember the fun at these special events. With enthusiasm and cooperation, the entire student body worked together as a family united by the bonds of Christian love in the work of producing the yearbook, even in the selling of ads, that we would owe no man anything, but to love one another. Let brotherly love continue. Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love, in honor preferring one another. ?7' up 'TWT rw villa Z lfl-if 1 MVAW, l Z 5-Mffigjl 5 amhnlf 4, 4 A Z1 ,7 -1 s all ' ff '-- 4 i .,:iiarn Zf,uE1f,2g, -,Ay , '31, A-4: T' I 'atfrigriili X me 1 e H Qinntents ghministratinn 6-1 5 Bay bibuul 16-47 Whining bcbnul 48-67 Spiritual life 68-86 QE bristianv berniuz 86-93 Qntihities 94-11 1 Qtbletics 112- 1 21 Business 122- Ph h d , 1 4 -E ,,,. 3 .2 Sy ' EV, 4 ., 21 V I if ' 'P fri. WILLIAM A. MIEROP President l 3Bre5il1ent anh rustees AS I HAVE LOVED YOU Jesus said, A new commandment write I unto you that ye love one another .... The newness of it was a shift in the standard. Under the law men had heen told to love one another as they loved themselves. If man had attained that standard he would have accomplished something, hut he couldn't. Then Jesus intensified that command' ment by telling us to love each other as He loves us. If we couldn't aspire to the ideal under law, how are we going to reach the goal set hy grace? It is heartening to know that the fruit of the Spirit is love. All the affection we need to comply with the new commandment is availahle to us if we will allow the Holy Spirit to make us like the Lord Jesus. This, of course, had reference to our loving one another as helievers. However, there is another love that is so necessary if we are to fully manifest Christ, and that is a passion for the souls of lost men and women, hoys and girls. Such love cannot he pumped up, hut will come only as we consider the fulness of the love of Christ in giving Himself for the redemption of all mankind, and the terrors of an eternity of separation from Cod in hell, which is the portion of all who die in their sins. How we should pray that this love may truly he shed alwroad in our hearts! Our whole life will he revolutionized when it is. lhleflwffi eau uf Qhmissiuns Our Lord hlesses us with countless opportunities, many of which we allow to go neglected or even unrecognized from day to day. FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY Logan Square bmiur 15155 F ADMIT our first impressions of PhilaBI were bleak . . . stark dormitory rooms . . . strange faces . . . endless registration lines . . . Freshman comprehensive exams . . . We warmed to greetings by the faculty, and soon felt at home. Cur Freshman year was highlighted by Dr. Walter Wilscin's speaking to us . . . our Halloween social . . . Christmas festivities . . . a missionary conference in the early Spring.fRemember Orientation classes in second semester? The school social and final goodbye to the grads of 1953 will never be forgotten. As Juniors we were impressed by our school's activities . . . Life of Christ taught by Mr. Pentecost . . . Dean lV1ason's dramatized classes. . . our Fall social, a liusking bee . . . an undefeated football season. Christmas that year wasnlt white, but bright. After a siege of final exams, we relaxed MR. LUFBURROW Class Advisor during the missionary conference in january with its theme, Is There None to Rescue Them? '... The sehool's social committee planned an evening concert for all of us, with a buffet supper following. In june our goodbyes were sad. Our class in September, 1954, was like one unit. We had grown to know and love each other as love for the Lord had increased. PhilaBl now was a part of each of us, and in June 1955, we become alumni, each going separate ways, knowing we will meet in His presence where are fulness of joy and pleasures forevermore. Lou Bradley, Presidentg Joyce Longenecker, Vice-Presidentg Bernita Gross, Secretaryg Raymond Brubaker, Treasurer. H IDA LOU AMMERMAN Why should He love me so? He pro' vides joy, fellowship, disappointment . . . all that I need. Why? . . . He loves me! His is a love reaching into the future, promising, There is nothing too hard for Me , . . a love which never fails. Yes, He loves meg that is why I love Him. E. DAVID BALL I praise the Lord for leading me to this school. Here I have begun to learn the meaning of He must increase, but I must decrease. ANNE AVIS What precious days these have been under His training at PhilaBI! I think of His hands pierced and bleed' ing to pay the debt. Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget? Perhaps the lesson learned most deeply: 'Ye are not your own. For ye are bought with a price. RICHARD C. BARTH That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fel' lowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. I praise God for the opportunities that have been afforded me at PhilaBI to know Him better. It has been a great joy to me to see Him revealed more and more both through classfroom experiences and experiences in service for Him. Nineteen KENNETH BAIRD The greatest blessing I received dur' ing my three years at PhilaBI was the opportunity of using what I had learned in school while doing the Lord's work at a camp in North Carolina. just to see young teen-agers accept Christ as Saviour and Christian teenfagers dedi- cate their lives to Him was a joy I shall never forget. ANN BENTLEY I thank the Lord that among the many things I have learned at PhilaBI has been the joy one can receive in a dayfbyfday walk with jesus. As I leave these three years behind me may I continue to have Colossians 1:10 before me dThat ye might walk worthy of the Lor . . . RUSSELL BISHOP The Word of God, as it reveals Christ to us, transforms our life. My years at PhilaBI have created a desire to really know His Word and to have constant communion with Him. I pray that I may walk step by step in the pathway of His will for my life. GLENDA BRIDGENS He was better to me than all my hopes, He was better than all my fears: He made a bridge of my broken works. And a 'rainbow of my tears, The billows that guarded my seafgiri path But carried my Lord on their crestg When I dwell on the days of my wilderness march I can learn on His love for the rest. BEVERLY BLANEY Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. My three years at PhilaBI have been precious because of the ministry God gave me in song. Souls were brought to Him, Christians were strengthened, and my heart was refreshed because it caused me to CONSIDER HIM. ROY F. BRILL, JR. My desire is that the Lord will someday send me forth into his vast harvest field4'l'o open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins. Twenty LOU BRADLEY One thing that has impressed me while I have been in Philadelphia is the fact that there are many thousands who are walking the streets without Christ and without hope. The words of the Lord Jesus have come to my mind again and again, Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel. SHIRLEY BRINK Not mine, but HIS must be the choice, For every passing dayg And in His hands I gladly leave The keeping of my way. Not mine, for I should make mistakes And things would all go wrong, But HIS, and through the darkest night My Saviour gives a song! ROBERT C. BROCK I praise God for saving me from the penalty of sin, keeping me from the power of sin, and promising to deliver me from the presence of sin. My three years at PhilaBI have helped me to greatly rejoice in these truths. DOLORES JEAN BRUBAKER He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. It has been encouraging in these three years at PhilaBI to know that I have been upheld by the One who can never be found oflfduty. My confidence for the future is rooted in Him. ALBERT BROWER One of the greatest blessings I have received during school was seeing boys and girls in my Bible Club come to the Lord and then grow in Him. I shall never forget one little fellow who was really a wild one, whose life I could see change after he had given his heart to the Lord Jesus. I like to work with young people and I shall always remember my Tuesday night Bible Club. l JOHN RAYMOND BRUBAKER Coming from rural life to this great metropolitan area brought many fears upon me. Then, I remembered His Word, God hath not given us thegspirit of fear, but . . . of love and of a sound mind. The powers of darkness fear When this sweet chant they hear, May Jesus Christ be praised. Twentyfone l N AOMI BROWN LEE 'Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen. What a privilege to be chosen as a servant of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! My desire is to do His will, that in all things He might have the preeminence. JOSEPH BUCK I can praise my God over and over again for His kindness and great love in saving me. For, by simple trust in the Hnished work of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ at the Cross, I have become a Son in the family of God. There is no other blessing that could compare to this. BONNIE BUELL The greatest blessings which I have received here at PhilaBI have been in my Bible classes. There is nothing to he compared with studying God's Word. We would do well to remember what the Psalmist has said, 'Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee. WILLIAM, CON OV ER One of the greatest blessings of school life was my leading a soul to the Lord for the first time, This was Il child in a Bible Club. The experience taught me that the Gospel must be simple for all who hear. I will ever be indebted to the Lord for this lesson. BETTY JUNE CHANDLER I'm so thankful for the blessings I've had and the lessons I've learned here at PhilaBI. God has done so much for me. Now my constant prayer is that I shall ever be willing to yield all to Him. What shall I give Thee, Master? Thou hast giifn all for meg Not just a part nor half of my heart, I will give all to Thee. JOHN CRAWFORD He only is my rock and my salvation, The most cherished moments of all my Bible institute days are those spent alone with Him. What a joy it is to hnd that in Him is the fulness of lifel cIALL'l'71IYX I1.UO PAUL R. COCHRAN I do praise the Lord for saving me in the days of my youth. My ultimate purpose in life shall be to place HIM first, How glad I am that I came to PhilaBI to be hetter equipped to do the Fathers will! MILDRED' CROASDALE These years at PhilaBI have been the highlight of my school days in Philadelphia. Here the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in each student makes hrotherly love a reality, not merely something to strive for. Certainly the Lord has used this Christian fellowship to bring me closer to Himself. STEPHEN DEPUE The various types of Christian serv' ice and the numerous problems and responsibilities that were mine as a stu- dent at PhilaBI have only deepened my friendship with and confidence in the Lord. My desire is that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable unto His death. JIM ERSKIN 'Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowlf edge Him and He shall direct thy paths. Praise and honor belong to my Lord for His faithfulness unto me. My prayer is that I may know Him more intimately, love Him more deeply, and trust Him more completely with the result that He may accomplish His perfect will in my life. C. LEON DILLINGER By His grace, these years at PhilaBI have caused me to stand still and hear the Word of the Lord, so that in every endeavour He might have the pref eminence. Through this, He has taught me that every task must be motivated by His divine power and every triumph attributed to Him as a gem of praise. FRANK W. FARIES Did we in our own strength conyide, Our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, The Man of God's own choosing. Dost ask who that might be? Christ jesus it is Heg Lord Sahaoth is His name. From age to age the same, And He must win the battle. 'Twentyfthree BARBARA DUTTON I have enjoyed singing, for God's glory, with the Phi1aBI Chorale while at school. However, the biggest thrill that I experienced was seeing teenage girls, in an institute of correction, come to know Christ as Saviour. My testi' mony is: Praise the Saviour, ye who know Him! Who can tell how much we owe Him? Gladly let us render to Him All we are and have. DIANE RUTH FICKENSCHER One of the greatest blessings that I have received at PhilaBI has been the teaching of a Bible Club. It was in this club that the Lord gave me a real love for children's souls. I remember vividly a tough gang leader who, having ref ceived Christ as her Saviour, carried constantly with her a tattered and torn family Bible. What a joy to see the Bible become precious to her and others! ROGER N. FREY What things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 'Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ jesus my Lord .... Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that 1 shall not be ashamed. BERNITA GROSS A Thanksgiving Vesper Service in the Chapel dim with the soft light of candles is outstanding to me. After a time of quiet organ music, students, without introduction, presented vocal and instrumental praise to God. Finally, Mr. Pentecost spoke, suggesting that each of us offer to Him the sacrifice of thanks, The evening captured the true message of Thanksgiving-that of givf ing reverent adoration to the One to whom we owe our all. . 5 W SHIRLEY FRY What is the worth of this life of mine Except it be hid in Him? Where is my hope, my joy, my peace Except it be given by Him? What shall I lay at my Master's feet Except it be wrought by Him? Why must I go to a dying world? Because I've been sent by Him! For me to live is Christ. BARBARA SUE GUTTRIDGE Be still and know that I am God. Some of my most precious moments in the rush of school and city life were those spent waiting before the Lord and claiming His precious promisesfmy strength for today, my hope for to' morrow and my joy for eternity. Behold, thou art my God! 'Idwentyffour GIL GREGORY Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! I continually praise God for His many blessings to me during my days at PhilaBI. God has blessed in many ways: in class, in chapel, on meetings, and just as we talked person to person. Truly, the Lord can bless in everything we do for Him. ROY S. HABECKER These three years at PhilaBI have been wonderful ones in which I learned more about the Lord Jesus Christ and how to better give forth the Word of God that others might come to a saving knowledge of Christ. I have also learned that I can do nothing of myself, but that I can do all things through Christ, who gives me the strength. CARL HARRISON Friends are snatched up and borne away by the rushing tide of time and circumstances. Possessions are torn from the grasp of those most deserving of them. Yet Christ stands as the allfsufllcient, timefenduring Rockga shelter from the crashing surf and screaming wind of trouble, pain, heartache, and temptation. JO ANN HELWIG Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonf derful works. How I praise my Saviour for the perfect work of salvation that He has wrought in me and for the privilege that has been mine of passing the gospel on to others, especially in Bible Club. Truly I can say, What would I do without jesus my Friend? WILLIAM LEE HAUSE Suffer the little children to come unto me were the words spoken by Christ. My greatest blessing in serving Him has been in the sowing of the seed and the harvesting of fruit in the lives of boys and girls. CLARA LOU HILDEBRAND Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish is a verse that He constantly places before me as I have opportunity of teaching children the wonderful message of Salvation. My heart can only sing praises to Him as I have the privilege of leading these little ones to Him. Twentyffive PEG HEACOCK Shew my Thy ways, O Lordg teach me Thy paths. 'That I may lay hold on that for which also I was laid hold on by Christ jesus. For the love of Christ constrains me that I should live unto Him who died for me and rose again. Oh! what a salvation this, that Christ liveth in mc. NO'RMA M. JENKINS It pays to serve jesus. It pays every day and in every way. The joy and blessing received from teaching children of God's love and seeing them saved, from singing His praises in 'Chorale and on assignments, as well as from per' sonally witnessing of His grace and saving power have paid eternal dividends. BILL J ENNINGS That I might know Him. Oh to grace how great a debtor Daily I'm constrained to bel Let Thy grace now like a fetter, Draw my wandering heart to Thee: Prone to wander, Lord I feel it. Prone to leave the God I loveg Here's my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above. JEAN A. KILBOURN During the three years of training at PhilaBI, I found that my team assign' ments have been of outstanding inspira- tion and blessing to me. They made me aware of my responsibility as I repre' sented the Lord and the Institute. I have chosen Isaiah 50:7 as my year's Verse. CONNIE. JOHNSON The Lord has done great things for meg whereof I am glad. How I praise the Lord for His marvelous salvation! His guidance and faithfulness have been abundant above all I could ask or think through these three Wonderful years and will continue to be so in the years ahead. JOHN LANDIS KRAFT Jesus, Thou Joy of loving hearts, Thou Fount of life, Thou Light of men, From the best bl.ss that earth imparts We turn unfilled to Thee again. Thy truth unchanged hath ever stoodg Thou savest those that on Thee callg To them that seek Thee Thou art good. To them that find Thee All in All. Twentyfsix MARY BELLE JONES I thank God that the Lord Jesus Christ and His work of atonement have been made precious to my heart this year. Truly it can be said, Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. JOYCE LONGENECKER My years at PhilaBI have been pleas' ant ones. The many opportunities, ex' periences and lessons from the Lord will mean much for future years in His service. Were the whole realm of nature mine, That were a present far too smallg Love so amazing. so divine. Demands my soul, my life, my all. EVANGELINE McNIGHT I thank the Lord Jesus Christ above all for saving me. I am also most grate' ful for the privilege of studying here at Philadelphia Bible Institute. The Bible and doctrine courses were a great blessing to me. The fellowship in the dorm and the class gatherings was also invaluable. RICHARD G. MARTIN I shall always be thankful for the Spiritual Life Conference of this year, in which so many hearts were blessed by the truth of God's Word. My own heart was touched by the Spirit of God, showing me that Jesus Christ must be the only indispensable person in my 1 e. ELINOR E. McWHORTER Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. It has been a great joy for me to witness to the children in Bible Club and Sunday School of the love of the Lord Jesus for them and to see many give their lives to Him. RICHARD A. METZGER I thank God for Philadelphia Bible Institute not only for bringing me true happiness in my own private life but also for spiritual enrichment. My prayer through Bible school and all my life is Not that I am sufficient in myself to reach any conclusion in my ggwg wisdomg but my sufficiency is from o . Twentyfseven DAN R. MAGUIRE I believe the greatest joy that I have had in my school training was the privf ilege of witnessing for my Lord and Saviour jesus Christ to bring souls to meet my Saviour as their own. HILDA B. MILES My praise to Him who has led me thus far is expressed in these words: My jesus, I love Thee. I know Thou art mine, My Rock and my Fortress, My surety divine, My gracious Redeemer, My Saviour art Thou: If ever I loved Thee, Lord jesus, 'tis now! NATHANIEL MILLER I praise and thank God for the three years that I have spent at the Phila' delphia Bible Institute, especially for the many experiences I have had with Him. I can say with Paul, I know whom I have believed, and am per' suaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day. ELLEN S. MOON I am strong for all things in the One who constantly infuses strength in me. Yes, Cod has constantly been my strength for the problems, for the studies, and for the joys of service. Truly it may be said of these past three years, The Lord stood with me, and strengthened me. R. WAYNE MILLER Paul said, And they glorified God in me. Throughout my life it had been my avowed ambition to bring others' attention to bear on myself. But now, I realize that I am nothing and Christ is all. How can I do less than give Hllgfl my best, after all He's done for me. KATHERINE MORRIS My greatest desire is to be a channel used of Cod to proclaim the salvation and precious riches found in Iesus Christ. Lord, I would give them the Bread of Life, The Living Water too: My heart cries out, Oh, here am I, Ready THT WILL to do! Twentyfeiglit JACK MILLHEIM' God is faithful . . . These wonderful words I have found to be very true in my Christian life. God has been faithful to me when many times I was unfaithful to Him. He was faithful in the past in saving me. He is faithful in the present in keeping me. He will be faithful in the future in leading me. JOHN MOSEMANN One of the most interesting phases of Christian service in which I have participated here is the Sermon Tele' phone Ministry. This work gives the opportunity for speaking to many different types of people about Christ. I thank the Lord for this opportunity of telling others about Him. KENNETH M. MOYER To the praise of the glory of His grace-thanksgiving, praise, devotion and adoration are just a few of the words which describe my heart's feel' ings toward my Lord, who, during my years at PhilaBI, has brought me to the place of submissiveness to His Will so He can use me to the praise of His glory. DOLORES PARILLO My greatest blessing at PhilaBI was the realization of the fact that Christ liveth in me! Christ, The King of kings, the possessor of all the fulness of the Godhead, all the treasures of wisdom, all the power in heaven and earth, the One able to do exceedingly above all we ask or think, is able to keep ME from falling. This Christ liveth in me! What a promise! Praise His won- derful Name! HELENA NELSON At PhilaBI it has been my joy to learn about the One who loved me and gave Himself for me. In the book of Philippians I have learned that Christ is my Life, my Pattern, my Goal, and my Strength. It is my desire to know Him and serve Him better. VIRGINIA PATRICK I praise the Lord for the opportuni- ties at PhilaBI of serving Him in differ' ent capacities. The street meetings, where I have met people from many phases of life, have been the richest blessing to me, My aim since coming to PhilaBI has been: Be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Twentyfnirie AUDREY PALMER Nothing has been more precious to me during my years at PhilaBI than to realize I'm righteousfnot with my own righteousness but with the righteous' ness of Jesus Christ. The study of the book of Romans in class clearly showed me this truth. I need not anymore serve sin, but have been delivered from its power. VINCE PORTE Jesus Christ has become a living reality to me as I became acquainted with Him personally at PhilaBI. In John 15: 16 He says 'Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and or' dained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. J AY M. REED These three years have been a time of varied opportunities and blessings. While here at PhilaBI, I have had the privilege of singing forth His praises in the Chorale. Oh, the joy and blessing that have been mine of singing out the good news that jesus saves. But what a joy it will be to gather around His throne and sing The Hallelujah Chorus to the Lamb of God! E. CAROLINE RODGERS . . . not I , but Christ liveth in me . . . The week of the Spiritual Life Conf ference this year was also a week of unusual circumstantial dii'l'lculties for me. I thank my Lord for the circumf stances of that week which He used to burn into my very being my utter dependence upon Him as the only indispensable One in my life. GARRISON E. RICE Prominent in my three years at PhilaBI, and secondary only to the en' riched endearment of my Saviour, have been the many evidences of Christian thoughtfulness shown by fellowfmemf bers of the Institute family. Inspiration and warmth of heart have caused me to realize the demand for sacrificial love in His service. ISABELLE D. ROGATO He emptied my hands of my treasured store, And His covenant love revealed, There was not a wound in my aching heart, But the balm of His breath had healed. Oh, tender and true was the chastening sore In wisdom, that taught and tried, Till the soul that He sought was trust' ing in Him, And nothing on earth beside. Thirty JOAN RICKERT 'Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit. Tell all the world there is sight for its blindness, Balm for its healing, a song for its dumb, Blood for its cleansing and life for its dyingg Tell them of jesus and bid them to come. VIOLET ROTZELL Three years of classes, fellowship, and activities at PhilaBI. But the great' est challenge of all-God has revealed to me the dying millions without Christ. What a joy to spend our lives for His glory and to lead others to a saving knowledge of Him. Truly He has done great things for us whereof we are glad. EMERSON E. RUTHERFO-RD Through the experiences of the years at the Institute. the Lord has become more and more real to me. The realizaf tion of my complete dependence upon Him and my rejoicing in Him have increased many times. ROBERT CLARE SEYFRIED Fellowship as well as working to' gether with others is profitable. This ministry and fellowship with the brethren have channeled my desire to know the Bridegroom Himself. Yes, with Paul my desire is: That I may know Him. Can anything be better? LOUISE SCHAUDT Thro' the dark valley and over the height I follow my Lord by faith, not by sight: His smile of approval, His strength for the fight Are mine, as I walk in His wonderful Light. The vict'ry is mine! All thanks unto Him! How can I question tho' the teardrops be dim? His holiness awes me. This pathway with Him Disciplines me-to make me like Him! WILLIAM K. SHADE My most blessed experience has been the recognition of ,lesus Christ as a person and His Word as a revelation of Himself. How true the words, the most important thing in life is your own personal relationship to jesus Christ. My desire for the future is that I may know Him better. Thirtyfone MARY LEE SCHMAL I discovered Z1 verse, while evaluf ating material for a Missions' term paper, whose meaning has recently terminated in great spiritual blessing: Bear not a single care thyself, One is too much for theeg The work is Mine and Mine alone, 'Thy work is-Rest in Me. MARION SHERMAN Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. My years at PhilaBI have truly been above all that I can ask or think. Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift! Before me is a future all unknown, A path untriedg Beside me a friend well loved and known. That friend is God. RUBY SIZEMORE Turn thee eastward, and hide thy' self by the brook Cherith . . . and thou shalt drink . . . and I have com' manded the ravens to feed thee there. During the past three years I have had the joy of drinking at the brook of His Word and have found what a privilege it is to be a channel through which His message can flow to others. LOIS SNYDER Is there anything too hard for the Lord? My heavenly Father provided Jesus Christ for my sing how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? These years are a promise of His continued faithfulnes. How good it has been to dwell here with the King for His service! LARRY SMITH I was once a sinner, but by the grace of God I am what I am today. I praise Him for His faithfulness to me. He hath done great things for me whereof I am glad. He hath blessed with all spiritual blessings. Praise be to God! KEN STAGG The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. The I.ord's strength at all times is sufficient. Because I have found it so in my years here at PhilaBI, I look forward to serving Him wherever He may lead. 'fhirtyftwo ARTHUR SMOKER Under the providence of God, I will never cease to praise Him for the privf ilege and time of blessing I have re- ceived at PhilaBI. Through the avenues of Bible Study and Christian Service, I have learned that the Lord Jesus Christ is more precious and indispen- sable to me. My only desire is to serve Him wherever He might lead. HENRY THEYS These three years at PhilaBI have been a mountainftop experience. The desire of my heart, as I look to future service for the King, is that I may know Him better. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fel- lowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death. JOAN TOMLIN Past-Because Thou hast heen my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice. Present-My flesh and my heart faileth: hut God is the strength of my heart. Future+Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. 1 l JAMES J. TUREK The Lord led me to PhilaBI. I thank Him for the ministry He has allowed me to have here. I think of the blessed times I have had as a Bible Club leader, especially in seeing boys and girls come to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. N AOMI TOMPKINS He is not a disappointment. He is all in all to me! ,lust the same today, forever, The unchanging Christ is He. He has won my heart's affection, And He meets my every need, He is not a disappointment For He satishes indeed! ELEANOR A. VERITY I am thankful for the many oppor' tunities I have had working with the boys and girls of Philadelphia. A most precious experience was, during a street meeting, my telling the story of the Wordless book to two little colored girls, and then seeing them come to Christ. Working with Child Evangelism in New York and with New England Fellowship during summer vacations has also meant so much to me. Thi-rtyfthree JEAN N ETTE W. TOMS There has been great delight for me to learn more about my Saviour, the Lord lesus Christ, through the study of God's Word. As I graduate I am trusting Him to lead me on into His perfect will for my life for He has said, Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou lqnowest not. PEGGY WALKER Three blessed years at PhilaBI have quickly passed. He has proven Himself to he All Sufficient in every instance. How wonderful to know the future, too. lies in His hands! The past is under the lolood, The present He is tending. The future I can leave with Him- His love is never ending! CHARLES M. WALTON Paul said, Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith: prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? Oh, that I might live this verse and proclaim my faith in Christ to others! ELMA M. ZEBLEY Many wonderful things have hapf pened here at PhilaBI, but a ve-ry special blessing has come to my heart each time our President has asked us in Chapel to bow our heads and silently adore our wonderful Lord. Truly God blessed those moments to my heart. I praise Him for each one. As the Father hath loved Me, so have I loved you: continue ye in My love. Everyone was recounting how the Lord had blessed them in their summer work as well as reminiscing over the past school year. What were some of the memories that came rushing to our minds? Never to be forgotten were the many wonderful classes where we received teaching from the Word of God. Also we remember the privileges that were ours of serving Him on Gospel teams and as Bible Club teachers. The fellowship with other Christians and the many lasting friendships made were also among those things that will remain with us always. As the junior class looks ahead to the future, we see many blessings yet in store for us. In the remaining time at school we expect all the joys of the past year, plus many more. I gave my heart to Jesus Christ on Iune 16, 1971, at the Mayfair Prima' tive Methodist Church. My desire is to serve in pointing the lost to .Iesus Christ as the only Way, the Truth and life. MARGARET COCHRAN I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service, And be not con' formed to this world: but be ye trans' formed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect will of God. BE'I'I'Y DURRWACHTER Why should my Saviour to Calvary go? Why should He love me so? How thankful I am that while still young, I realized Christ loved me and I accepted Him as my Saviour! What is my relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ? was the central theme of every message of the Spiritual Life Conference. Through this week of complete concentration upon Him, He has become the only indispensable One to me. NAOMI TOMPKINS I thank God for the Spiritual Life Conferenceg for from it I experienced the difference between a spiritual assent to truth and a new, living com' munion with my Saviour, God gripped my heart with the indispensability of Himself. He brought Addison Raws, guest speaker for the Spiritual Life Conference. me to the place where I was really ready to find ail my desires in Him. How glad I was to discover that heartaches are but growing pains that lead me nearer to Him. DoN WILSON I have received rich blessings from the Spiritual Life Conference this year. Much guidance has been given to me toward the fulfillment of my desire: I would be like fesus. JAMES J. TUREK Is Jesus Christ precious to you? I thank the Lord that I could answer, Yes, to that question during the Spiritual Life Conference. Mary He know just how precious He is to me as I lay all at my Master's feet. DOLORES HENRY I know lives were changed because of decisions made at the Spiritual Life Conference. My testi' mony is Philippians 1:21, For to me to live is Christ. When we give our all to Jesus Christ He gives His all to usg therefore, we are complete in Him. . RUTH ANN GULYAS Surely, I can say that our speaker, Dr. Raws, was used of God to bring me closer to Him, realizing that it was all done on the cross for me. While Mildred Croasdale and the other photog' raphers were busy taking pictures, Clara Lou Hildebrand and her literary staff proceeded to obtain the pertinent information for the writefups. The sketches were designed by Carl Harrison and his art staff. Business was transacted by Raymond Brubaker and his staff. The work was finished and sent to the printer who returned the proofs to us.
