Soli Deo Gloria Your School Board is responsible not only for the operating of a school but for the operating of a particular kind of school. In determining the right direction to move or the best resolution of a prob- lem, we always have in mind Phil-Mont's motto: Soli Deo Gloria. The board gives overall direction to operating the Academy, it's principals, faculty and staff carry out the day-to-day business of Christian education. The board functions through several major commit- tees, each responsible for a designated area of con- cern: Academic Affairs, Finance, Promotion, Buildings and Grounds, as well as several special- service committees . These committees meet regularly to wrestle with ongoing affairs of the school and to give con- structive counsel to the administrators about deal- ing with specific current problems . The long-range goal of the board always involves a solemn desire to offer the best possible Christian education to our communi- ty. Such a vision is inevi- tably inseperable from the ever-present problem of maintaining solvency. Pri- vate-school financing re- quires both work and sac- rificeg it necessitates edu- cating the local Christian community to the unique- ness and value of Chris- tian education. We can never relax our efforts to upgrade - not just maintain - the qual- ity of the curriculum, of the faculty, of the library, of the classroom equip- ment, of our accredita- tion, and of our credibility in the community. We have some specific, obvi- ous needs: an enlarged plant - classrooms and gymnasium, drainage con- trol, certain improve- ments: tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, a running track, an out- door pavilion. The most serious physical problem is drainage control. It is our privilege to join with Christian parents in bringing up their children in the training and in- struction of the Lord fEphesians 6:41.
