,fir llff!! WX. 'X ,J .Zyl X X YM Increasingly people are seeing Christian schools as a necessary haven from the often tempestuous conditions of public education. Certainly Christian schools are necessary, but not primarily as a defensive measure. Rather, they are necessary as the best ap- proach to mounting a Christian offensive. Christian schools need not foster a monastic Withdrawal from current culture, but instead should encourage a concentrated study of our culture and its implications so students will be better prepared to minister to their contemporaries . - A Christian school thus aims for graduates trained to serve. This means first that graduates must have a desire to serve -a desire which comes from a thorough knowledge of Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit. It means secondly, that the graduates Will have an ability which is gained through a rigorous liberal arts education which gives a firm grounding for further study. Because we believe that the impact of the church on our evermore secular 20th Cen- tury society will largely be tied to the impact of Christian education on the lives of our young people today, we at Phil-Mont are dedicated to the total education of Christian young people who are being trained to serve. f3?ilQ'QQxXNl X
