Its aim is to offer appropriate music and singing at commencement exercises and chapel prog- rams. It encourages young people to take advantage of the opportunity to practice with this group and to develop their talents further. This club provides its members who have a goodly supply of musical talent with the chance to use this talent pleaaurably and profitably. The Glee Club meets once a month with its collection of altos and sopranos to perform gymnastics before the faculty and entire student body. XV One of the main interests of students at Phelps High School is the newspaper which began publication this year under the supervision of R.B. Newsom, the head of the English Department. A staff was drawn up and the name Blue and Gray Banner was chosen for the title. The staff members then voted to use the proceeds of the sale of papers to defray expense. The issue was to be published twice a month. Some of the many items featured within each and every issue are sports, gossip, humor, gripes and the groans and the question of the week. These columns and othens were handled by the public speaking and the journalism classes this year. Due to the steady and efficient work the 'Blue and Gray Bannern has become popular with the student body. The students anxiously await and look forward to each issue. s v V Ziff: 9, 5 39 C'i:'I3i3':i:1'i':i:3t5'3I'i:-23-:iE': 7' . I' f., if EXIP4 5164! R Editor.... .... Co-Editor. . . . . .
