Future Homemakers of America The F.H.A. club was introduced at Phelps High School, by the home economist, Jane Hester, in the fall of nineteen forty-nine. The purpose of this club is to help the girls to face the future with high hopes and to reach their goals, with greater success. Miss Jane Hester is the F.H.A. sponsor, with Mrs. Opal Fields, as the F.H.A. mother. The club consists of,seventeen members. The offices of F.H.A. were changed this year by formal initiation following , Anna Rae 5 Reporter, with last year's officers in charge of the initiation. The people was elected: President, Betty Browng Vice-president Charlesg Secretary, Carlene Tannery Treasurer Betty Ma les P Bonnie Comptong Historian, Ada Jean Browng Parliamentarian Juanita Wolfordg and Song Leader, Frankie Dotson. , During this year the club has eledted various committee the HDegree Committee,' in which the members may obtain different d . . egrees, such as the following: Junior, Chapter, State and American Homemaker degrees. The colors of F.H.A. are red and white. The flower, is the red rose. The question debated this yeer ne Resolved: That the American people should reject the Welfare state. The Debate Club is e member of the Kentucky Interecholastic League.
