Faculty advisor and sponsor was R.B. Newsom, assisted by Ernie Maples, Editor and assisted by Rena Dotson, the assistant editor. Plans for the book were started when it was definitely learned that materials would be available. There was no discussion over themesg the Korean War had long begun and had made its inpression on the student body of Phelps High School. It was the apparent duty of the yearbook staff to mirror life at Phelps Schoolg that life had become increasingly patrotic as well as academic. Proceeding in vigorous army style, the staff quickly mapped out working plans and sales campaigns and plotted its own general organization. The yearbook was designed for all four classes at Phelps, since the further shortage of materials threatened discontinuance of the Phelpian for the duration. The staff has worked long, hard and happily, to make for you a yearbook worthy of this added significance.
