Senior Class Play 'L a YM., .A vt ff 'fMr.a-f.4'n, nn- ' 4 ,Ms 41 On the nights of November 16th and 17th, the largest crowd in the history of Phelps High School viewed events produced on ltlgla The senior students on stale were transformed forthe teen- agers so familiarly seen at the recreation building, to more mature even middle-aged characters. So authentically did the members play their parts in the production that their audience viewed only characters portrayed. Erma Lawrie was portrayed by Elmo Tibbs, as she became a frank, appealing young girl who undergoes the experience of in- heriting 'Mystery lancr.' Aunt Sophia, a genial, good-uatured and cheerful woman who, in spite of her portestations cf scornful disbelief in anything, supernatural is really superstitious was played by Bobbie Tanner. The role of Mrs. Murdock, a grim, taciturn and superstitious was played by Phoebe Charles. Another charming character was Peggy Van Ess, played by Ruby lae Charles, who rattled on at a mile a minute pace. Under her protection was the bug-chaser, Sammy Schaffer in the role of Oswald Karine. Ellen Stevens, the mystery woman, with her sympathetic role, captured the hearts of many of the audience. The part of Yami, portrayed by Raymond Dotson who constantly dominated the entirety of the stage. A brutal, sinister character was played by Shelton Norris. Macintosh, a rugged handsome young fellow, was ph yed by Ernie ihplea. Jimmy Maynard,a sophomore, was cast in the portrayal of Arthur Hale, a good looking young man with a pleasing personality The acting reflected the capable direction of Robert Newsom, the dramatic coach. The seniors started with practically nothing in the way of stage and lightning effects but a little ingenuity resulted in a very effective setting, light and storm ba kground. The performance itself was highly successful. Screams of terror and shouts of hearty laughter from the audience proved that 'Tiger House' was truly fine entertainment.
