DEDICATION Robert B. Newsom is one of the best liked and most respected figures at Phelps High School. We are fortunate that he chose to come here to teach. As an English teacher he has done an excellent job for which we shall ever be grateful. Through the years ahead we shall remember him as a dear friend upon whom we could depend. We felt assured of his support and prized it in terms of what it meant to have him with us and for us. We are glad that we can say he led us to do those things which were right and fair to all. Mr. Newsom is a young man of fine character and good reputation. He is a quiet, resourceful person with a winning personality and a pleasing smile. He meets his contacts with leniency, under- standing, and willingness to help or give advice in trying moments. He strives to the utmost to keep his classes happy and succeeds to a large degree under the cir- cumstances involved. Mr. Newsom is a model leader. Various groups and some individuals have shown wonderful progress because of his guidance. He always offers his services freely and is ever loyal in his duty. Mr. Newsom generally practices what he teaches. He recognizes and admires good work. He loves and teaches his students to love, appreciate, and value good literature. It is hard to speak from the heart with the words that express best our feelings for him. So we wish this page to be a tribute to him who has done so much yet expected so little. We the Seniors of 1950-51 feel confident in dedi- cating The Phelpian to Robert B. Newsom, whom we all love. Thfs Is only a token of our friendship for him.
