Administration In order 10 eliminate the split sessions at the High School, the PSJA school board trustees called for a bond issue of five million dollars. The bond issue was approved by the voters of PSJA by a 3 to 1 margin on Jan. 31, 1976. The bond issue will also eliminate split sessions at both of the junior high schools. Split sessions became necessary at the High School and at Austin and Jefferson Junior High Schools to alleviate the overcrowding of students in elementary classrooms. The bond issue provides for a new junior high to be built in Pharr, for Jefferson Junior High to be remodeled and converted to serve all 9th graders in the district, for a 14 room addition to the High School. This includes two science labs, minor remodeling to the band building, library and cafeteria. Plus there will be 76 new classrooms for elementary schools throughout the district. Office Personnel To keep the school running smoothly and orderly, office personnel put in a lot of hard working hours. Not only do they hold very important positions, but they also have difficult decisions to make, and vast amounts of paper work. Without these devoted people PSJA Senior High School would not exist. Above is Principal Mr. Ernesto Alvarado. Bottom row, 1 to r are Mr. Jack McKeever and Miss Hilda Garza, assistant principals. 22
