W2 Bear Memories Ad ministration Classes Activities Sports Advertisements Foreword After having waited many years, everyone is very proud of the new high school. There is never anything quite like our high school years as many happy moments and fond memories are formed during this time, and memories are something without which one can't very well live. It is good to look ahead to the future and plan, but it is rewarding to be able to reminisce over faces and scenes of the past. The purpose of this yearbook is to preserve a life of living memories, and the annual staff of Bear Memories, 1962, has earnestly tried to record these highlights and experiences in our lives with the hope that each of us will never forget this year as one of the best years of our lives. THE ANNUAL STAFF VCrr £ . Dedication Mrs. Marie Baker is the choice of the students of PSJA for TEACHER OF THE YEAR. As such, she is both popular and respected among her students. She is a friend to whom they can turn for kindness, sympathy, or encouragement. She is a wise counselor whom they can call upon for gentle, firm help or guidance. In her work, her perspective is ever fresh, young, and forward looking. In teaching them, she imparts to her students something of this youthful, yet mature outlook, mixing with it wisdom and kindness. Being dedicated to the best good of the school and students, she represents the friendly, young, visionary spirit of the new PSJA High School. As TEACHER OF THE YEAR, as a highly efficient instructor, and as a friend to all, this 1962 Bear Memories is sincerely dedicated to you, Mrs. Baker. 3 Administration 4 On, On, PSJA, A tribute you stand; Superintendent of Schools MR. Judy Pierce, Janice Curbo, Don Searle. Mike Perkins, Leon Jordan 12 Georgina W illiams PSJA's first foreign exchange student. The American Field Service sponsors students from fifty different countries throughout the world. The basic qualifications for this scholarship are average or better academic ability, the ability to speak English passably, personal qualities which best represent the country they are from, and capacity to pass on and make use of the information learned in the United States. On the basis of these qualifications, Georgina Williams was selected to come to the United States as a representative of England. Of her experiences here in the United States, Georgina has added a few words of her own: Going to learn to brag even more, eh?” said many of my friends when they learned I was to spend a year in a Texan community. Say hello to Marshall Dillon and Bronco Layne for me! added others. Well. I haven't seen anything of the famous Texas braggarts-only people who are intensely proud of the life they have built for themselves and their children, and. I think rightly so. Nor have I crossed paths with Bronco Layne or Marshall Dillon, or even Chester, but I haven't missed them for I've met so many fine people. I certainly haven't been disappointed, however, in Texan superlatives, for I’ve noted among other things, the biggest cac-tii, cows, and cars I’ve ever seen. I've enjoyed every minute of my stay, and I can't wait to come back and see yo' all again.
