Administration Classes Activities Sports Ads MEMORIES of long ago ON. OX PSJA, A tribute you stand. This year. 1961. concluding a half-century of growth and development in the old familiar brick building on the highway. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School is making transition to a new. more modern building, better equipped to serve the needs of a progressive school with a growing student body. For service rendered, knowledge tendered--a Benediction planned. We of the annual staff wish to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for the role you have played in our lives by dedicating this, the 1961 BEAR MEMORIES. TO YOU, PSJA. Within thy walls our dreams have grown, and seeds of many friendships sown. Long after your foot worn steps lie idle and-voices no longer echo through your age softened halls, we will remember the dreams.hopes, fears and friendships we've known: we will remember the victories and defeats we’ve known, and the lessons we've learned from them. Through all our years, as we go through life, we shall remember you: you have always been and will always be OUR HERITAGE. OUR SCHOOL' MEMORIES of long ago Board of Education Mr. J. H. Pharr-San Juan School Bulletin. In 1915, people not contented with the inadequate school facilities which their respective towns (Pharr and San Juan) offered, voted unanimously to come together and build a centrally located high school building. Immediately following the election six acres of ground were purchased and work was begun on the beautiful building known as the Pharr-San Juan School Building...... At a cost of approximately S50, 000, the high school building was erected and equipped. It is a commodious and well constructed and strong building, including the basement story, and is strictly modern and adequate to the needs of the school. Besides 10 classrooms, the building contains 2 offices, a library room, a splendid auditorium with a seating capacity of 400, and laboratories for different scientific courses.
